Alice, he was in a half way house for a while, he says he was placed with a heroin addict and a paranoid schizophrenic and couldn't cope with that environment where he felt less safe than on the streets. If people find it galling that others are trying to make sure he has blankets, food etc then perhaps best to avoid this thread because I really can't see why anyone would follow it if they felt that way. As others have said, helping Paddy does not preclude helping others, volunteering or giving to charity. It depresses me that people have come on the thread to patronise and talk down to those who do care enough to help. Rather than asking admin to close the thread maybe just don't read it? Might be a less drastic solution than locking a thread about something that lots of people do care about just because you don't feel the same.

Just as I ask. He was a legend. I think he?s still doing the blackheath coach run.

What an utterly bizarre sentiment, being concerned about one person doesn?t mean you?re not concerned about others. People aren?t ?fascinated? by him. They?re worried about him. Because he?s homeless. And unwell. And has one leg. And it?s freezing. And the sparse shelter he?s made for himself has burnt down just after he?s had an operation.

Hi admin, I posted this in the general section (as the other thread about this man is) specifically because I wanted the most people to see it. I?m not a naughty plumber who has posted in the wrong section. I understand that you might not deem this to be strictly speaking a general East dulwich topic but I hoped on Christmas Day, when a homeless amputee has had their possessions burnt to a cinder in our immediate area you might be a bit flexible. You live and learn. The thing is homelessness in our area IS a general issue not a lounge issue.

I was in the queue when it reopened too, no carnage at all just a queue of people waiting patiently in good spirits

His name is Padraig (paddy). I took him some stuff today, among other things some size large track suit bottoms because he needs the wlasticated waist so track suit bottoms are easiest for him. If anyone has any size large tracksuit bottoms then he would be grateful for more. The owners of The Grove tavern / old harvester that he?s sleeping by have come to say that they want to move him on. He?s going into hosp to have an operation just before Christmas and is worried about his stuff being taken while he?s in there. I?ve offered to store it at mine while he?s in hospital but I worry that when he?s in having his op that the owners of the building will use it as an excuse to barricade up the den he?s made. He has some duvets but does anyone have a sleeping bag they could spare?

Kristina I suggest if you want to keep stuff private then you keep it off a public forum. Or you're saying you have a problem with people with mental health issues reading public posts on a public forum? It sounds suspiciously like you're using a public post to air a personal drama...

The staff all had no option but to leave as the new owners wanted to keep them on but significantly reduce their hourly wage and they could not afford to stay. -

There never was a boycott, in spite of your best efforts to create one by suggesting that all posters on this thread be sent a discount code to avoid one happening. Well done Mac and Miller for listening to feedback and making changes! -
Yes I thought the same, glad to hear you're ok.

presumably tomskip thinks children should be adopted at birth by childcare professionals rather than risk them being looked after by their unqualified parents! Just imagine looking after a child with no formal nanny qualification!

Yes Gumboots has the longest waiting list in the area, about 2 years

We had this pirate entertainer for my daughter's 5th and he was absolutely brilliant, had them eating out of the palm of his hand for the whole thing! https://captain-fantastic.co.uk/parties/pirate-parties/
