http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Cosmetic_Ingredient_Review A link to the independant group from your post I did not read all of your other link by dana joel gattuso as i recognised Company she worked for from Exxonsecret website, Sorry cannot put it up. I feel s there has been conflict of interest with her research owing to funders. Maybe not in this particular piece but even so its put me off.

Do you think the banning of ppb was done without scientific study.
-
dg No it is not the same misinformed belief system, the banning of additives in cosmetics and the continueing scientific studys on ingredients like the phthatates, are a real concern and it has been recognised what dangers lie with some of these chemicals, hence the banning. I am aware of louises view but the belief there are toxins so strong they are a public health issue is a reality.
-
DG I cannot see how you can make an assumption that people who question chemicals such as fungicides and other chemicals added to cosmetics must be of the same belief system as those of Louise. if There is a huge problem with allergys whichis worsening, there are also many beliefs to the causes. I can understand why people want clearer labeling to cosmetics as many want with food and medicines. I do not have a problem with people putting make up on public transport. http://www.euagenda.eu/2013/1/23/Living-with-Allergies

Thanks for post Fuschia, I'd no idea independent midwives worked withou insurance, I'm surprised this has been allowed, not that I disagree, Just assumed any one directly involved with life, would be. It seems unbelievable that no insurance cmpany will cover them.I have no personal experience with Im's but believe people should have a choice. I also believe, although much more difficult, that people still have choices regardles of there income. These choices are often hard to see with institutional births but non the less are there. I have met many women who have shared there experiences, there battles for choice within a system not independant and Who have demanded there right for less intervention. Of course mothers would rather not have to fight and many feel no need to whether because thet are happy with there treatment or can afford an Im. The choices for mothers during pregnancy and birth should be there regardless.

WM you say you are not making a big thing of it being crap, but it does seem to be a big thing for you.I think i'd be more worried my conceern would cause confusion. I'm sure you said earlier you've discussed things whilst reading it. Your children will encounter many gender stereotypes in life and meet people who have been abused, but as children the innocence of liking a story, without having to think of all that shit, should be celebrated. -
Oh well, i'm waiting on pure science which would make a nice double. Glad i got medina on bet fred, triple the odds for one winner.

I had medinas, on lucky 15, first one down got fatcatinthehat next one.

I think its easy to get carried away on issues such as gender, I remember a thread before about the difference between boys and girls, and many posters being able to associate certain behaviour with the sexes, others didn't, Having respect for others and yourself is part of growing up,which never ends. WM My son found it hilarious that I'd connected a thread about cinderella to the witchunts, theres nothing like a good old laugh when looking at your grown up childs different perception. Nothing personal. -

Pickle, I grew up mostly hearing stories at school as my mother did not have the time to read to us due to caring for my father, Who was extremely ill. The stories my mum told were spontanous As were my fathers, which he always told, as a true story, ha ha. I now have the delight of reading to my grandchild now, And re live again the joy of a childs imagination. -

I agree Pickle, its one thing however much you want to look at things but children need to be kids and learn things for Themselves. I was always amazed at how differently they interpreted books and situations with each other. -

I understand what you're saying WM, And without going off topic, there are many things in oue enviroment, Which encourage people towards herd mentality from an early age, I have a problem with science, for many reasons,, And if I'm honest, I think science haas encouraged people to hand over responsibility for there health, science has now become a controlling power where money and control have taken over, constricting some amazing scientific people who would like freedom to study to give people answers to people suffering, by the mistakes made by sscience. Luckily like books,we still have a choice, and although regulations regarding herbs are being restricted, nature still gives us our plants, which have been used for centurys. I realise there has also been amazing work done, and have admiration for individuals who care for ill and dying people. And know many people who would not be living without science. For me personally I cannot connect this sysstem with healing. Sorry if this may seem off topic but I do believe childdhood events have aan effect on how mucch you question your enviroment. And wanted to explain WM, although I've prob went on ddifferent tangents. On phone and hard to type. -

WorkingMummy > > (I think the magic is something about our > unattractive, but hard-wired tendency, on > occasions, to opt for freedom from responsibility > at the cost of freedom full stop. Something about > being beguiled, about making someone else > responsible for our welfare. Cinderella takes > zero responsibility for herself, submits to evil > as a result and is "rewarded" by the "love" of the > smiling prince.) Magic has different neanings to everyone, I associate it with freedom of choice,, intuition, Taking control of you own life. Women and men Were hunted and suffered terrible deaths for refusing to give up there connection with nature. I feel there is still a struggle now, when Making choices against the norm. I don't mean to take this away fron original post, I had similiar thoughts about many books w hen my children were younger. I ave tried to bring my children to have there own thoughts and hopefuly have a sense of freedom. Luckily there are some great books, even the books I didn't like gave room for communication and I learned a lot from my childrens perceptions. -
I think so many organisations involved with trials in poorer countries where safety for the people involved in these trials, has not been put in place.below is a study on effect on bcg re vaccination which shows how safety was lost. http://www.bmj.com/content/340/bmj.c671 Below is some background and looking in parts at lessons to be learned. Its an interesting read and at times seems a breakthrough for communication, where many people felt they had no voice. http://www.health-policy-systems.com/content/10/1/5

I think reminding your lo that the feeling when needing a poo is different to when needing a pee, then ask when they'd not use potty for poo, if it felt different. I also think not worrying and keeping calm helps.

http://m.ije.oxfordjournals.org/content/34/3/540.long Link above says scar could bbe used as a marker, I don't know how old this is, Maybe newer studies show diffrent. These findings were takken from studie done in Guinea-Bissau, one of the poorest countries. I know not related to bcg, although some vert contraversual trials been done there, but that's a bigger picture, As regards the scar, Is it a case of conflicting views with science or are parents being given wrong or old information,
