  1. I hope you're recovering well growlybear. I only heard the story 2day but got the feeling this mother believes she is making the best decision for her son. I believe along with treatment the state of mind cannot be taken out of the outcome, this is recognised in medicine now. Whatever the rights or wrongs i cannot see how being separated from his mother will aid his recovery. Best wishes to you.
  2. Sorry, was called away. I do not understand what powers the law has regarding forced treatment. Could it be her acceptance of initial treatment took away her rights to then say no. I realise most people would be thankful for whatever can be done, but there are also many people who when faced with a life or death situation wish to make there own decisions. Of course I realise this about making a choice about her child, but I cannot believe seperation is fair for either of them.
  3. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-20619096 Think this is so sad, both have now been found, and seems, from what I've read, he has been took into protective care.
  4. I think for medical staff to recognise the fear of giving birth it would come down to rational or irrational fear, I personaly feel it is a natural to have fears especially with your first. I think when faced with medical fears, it is hard to keep them separate. Of course a medical person can rationally have concerns, and will not only recognise a problem but do what they can to avoid a situation that may occur. Because you know the advice given comes from people who have more experience and know so much more on the physiology side, it is difficult to keep hold of your own feelings, especially in labour. Where there are health problems, I found they were not happy to give any control to me, regardless of the fact I had understanding of my problems. Of course I also understand the situation they are in, and they are advising on what they believe is best, often, unfortunately though, there isn't room for what the mother feels.
  5. I have always used castor oil, a little bit on cotton wool wiped over the eye at bedtime, id wait till they were sleeping when very young. Although its more difficult to get now, you can get it from health shop.
  6. Mrs TP, I don't know if you were given a chance to appeal the decision to stop your child benefit, but i think a complaint would have been as far as you got. Whether people who are being refused food parcels after having sanctions on there benefits, or people with disabilities, some dying after being told they are fit for work, I think you'll find regardless of the level of poverty, many people feel there complaints are unheard.

  8. Anti Cuts Protest is a website that will tell you if anything is happening in your area or give advice on how to organise a petition etc.
  9. http://www.familyandfriends-railcard.co.uk/buy-family-friends-railcard/faqs/eligibility#2 As long as you buy a discounted ticket you can still use railcard Knomester.
  10. Your child does not have to be 5 before you can use a family railcard, so long as you buy a childs ticket. I travel a lot with my daughter and grandchild and have used railcard since she was 10months. Works out cheaper when more than one adult. Sure its on website about age.
  11. Brings a whole different meaning to fighting over the kids,
  12. I cant imagine how that must have been for you, amazing it all went well, must have been such a relief.
  13. I dont know if I missed it, but didn't hear anything about the birth of the surviving twin. I did not see the whole programme , but saw where the procedure was done , cutting the placenta. I wondered about the other mother having triplets where 1 of the identical twins was having problems, but all turned out well. I realy felt for the woman who lost her twin, the woman doin the scan seemed very matter of fact. Hope all went well.
  14. A couple of weeks ago I went with family to Jerry cottles wow circus in Paignton, there were no animals and kids had an amazing time. I think its a nice way for children to be introduced to the circus.
  15. All squatting has not been made illegal, see link below http://www.squatter.org.uk/
  16. Hi Emza, My 2year old grand daughter has whooping cough, it started with what seemed a common cold then after a week the cough worsened, especially at night. She has had the whoop with vomiting, for 2wks now although sickness is lessening the last 5days. We have been givin her teas using coltsfoot, hyssop, mullein and liquorice root along with an echanacea extract. We have had to give the herbs seperate in her little teapot as combine she would not drink. This helped to find the herb she found difficult to drink (horehound, replaced with mullein) . I hope your little one gets better soon,
  17. I cant put links at the moment but easy to find different scientific views. I have merely tried to answer and explain to comments made to me. It may seem to some I've moved off topic, but as Ive said before other aspects etc. if there was no conflict of info, would there be a "minefield" I am not concerned with proving to anyone whether I'm right or wrong and certainly have not claimed to be an expert, as has been said, an individual decision. Well I'm off, as I'm getting bored of saffron not grasing anything beyond the science.
  18. Saffron, Science is now at the early stages of recognising links with stress affecting the immune system, whilst many people have always known that, through there own experience, now this link has been made (although also conflicting views) this does not make it any more real to the people who already recognised this. We do not need permission from science to know our own bodies. Scientists have spoke out against vaccines, any one who has looked at both sides of this will decide, and do what they believe to be right. I have a good understanding of my immune system, you seem to be assuming that although the scientific view is lookin at links, no one else can make there own links, and if any one else suggests there own, you assume they have no understanding or even worse than that, they allow there feelings to come into it , its then an uninformed choice. As ive said earlier, I believe there is more to isolated systems in your body, dont you believe there are people who want to take responsibility for there own immune system, I could not imagine making a decision about vaccines, without looking at both sides, then looking at what I believe myself, amongst conflicting views. It causes me less stress, helps the immune and an overall balance with the body,
  19. I've found crushed parsley rubbed onto mozzy bites works really well, if I cant get it fresh I make a strong tea out of dried parsley, and apply. A plant is handy.
  20. Thanks hellosailor, It seemed obvious to me you were joking, in fact I was going to reply with another joke but realised it was probably a bad idea, I do find this sort of communication rather bizarre. Saffron, I may be wrong scientificly, yes I am aware that anyones immune system can change at any time, but I genuinely believe when your immune system is allowed to become strong naturally it will become stronger and create a better chance of fighting things off. I have known many children who are vaccinated and not had immunity, Everyone is different. I do believe there are many things that are attached to health, I also think instinct and natural defence is very much underated, in an enviroment that stifles personal responsibility. It seems obvious to me that many people have had to fight to get information from our goverment, time and time again we hear of information that was kept from us, I feel for the people who have had to try and prove there children have been damaged, in a society where many people do not want to recognise ths is a reality. As for the possibly less severe adverse reactions, I can't see any desire to know from the scientific side.
  21. Mrsdanvers No I would not have come to a difeerent decision, I dont see how you think I can have the best of both worlds, when our beliefs are so different. I have no concern over my mental health, thank you, and I am aware the majority of people immunise there children but no, I am not grateful nor feel guilty for my decision. Natural immunity has no time limit, where as vaccinations do, hence boosters, so herd immunity is impossible. I have never at anytime said any childhood illness is trivial. I would not have put my own unborn children at risk, I have no idea who you are or you me but by your comments seem to suggest you are a saviour to my children whilst also a victim.
  22. Yes its also very good for wind, and is safe for babies, it quickens the metabolism, hence not safe if pregnant, (just incase, my 1st was 4month when I was pregnant, so much for breast feeding acting as a contracept)
  23. Hi Nabz, Fennel is very good for constipation, its safe eor babies, if using a fennel tea bag, it should be made weaker. I think with the weather heating up, although breast milk should suffice, it would help to give a fennel drink, good luck.
  24. http://www.ecomed.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/3-tomljenovic.pdf I've found the author of above unbiased and honest.
  25. I think it is about weighing up the risks Saila, and I have no problem that you believe it is a rational decision for you, the same as it was for me, I also believe the health of my children and myself for that matter cannot be separated from emotional, this does not take away the seriousness of decisions regarding individual choices, but plays a part. We may have reached different conclusions, and we may differ on other health choices, but I strongly believe we should have the choice. I think it is a very dangerous road to go down and there will again be many conscientious objectors.
