  1. Its still early days for a reaction pommie. I have never heard that no scaarring or blister shows a highh immunity, many countries including uk would re vaccinate if there was no reaction. I believe this has not been the practice in this country for many years.but believe this was stilll happening quite recently elsewhere in world. World Health Organisation advised agains it. Sorry cant check or put up link now.
  2. Thanks buggie, its around his stomach/back. My neice says he has never had cp before but his older brother had it. My sister has worked with pre school children for years and she'd never heard of it either.
  3. Hi Buggie, my neices son (3yrs old) has been diagnosed as having shingles, he has no other health problems.Have you come across many cases of this in children. I have never heard of it before. On googling, Info i've found says its very unusual and normally children with other health problems get it. Can't find any figures on cases of this in chilldren.
  4. That must have been a nightmare for you all mens. I hope your little one recovered. I agee,"who really knows". Considering the studies showed the link from swine flu vaccine, 2009-2010,sorry can't put up link now. And narcalepsy recently, also conflicting info, although all remaining vaccines to be destroyed. There many factors in our enviroment, food, water etc. Which may play a part, In our health, which to a degree, we have a choice. I believe this choice should remain regarding vaccines.
  5. My nephew recieved an appeal decision accepting he was to ill to work 2days after he died. Personal experiences make it hard to not see a system thats unfair.
  6. Its disgusting how this goverment are treating disabled people, Lindylou, if you have just recieved this decision, you can appeal, Do you have someone who can help you with this? On tht 17th january 32 backbenchers put forward there concerns about atos. You can read this on blacktrianglecampaign.com, sorry cant put a link up just now. Figures are given on how many people win there appeal. There is also concerns put forward regarding mental health issues. Its so unfair you are being put through this.
  7. Hi Beagle, After the recall of 160,000 flu vaccines, Agrippal and Fluad, made by Novartis, this vaccine was banned then lifted. Here's the story. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/9645544/Thousand-of-flu-vaccines-recalled.html From what I have gathered the particles were protein aggregates (clusters) see link below. http://uk.reuters.com/article/2012/10/31/us-novartis-flu-idUKBRE89U13O20121031 Here's a bit about them, from a medical view, there should be a system to stop these clusters but somehow that didn't happen. http://www.aapsj.org/view.asp?art=aapsj080366 Here is some information for doctors from the Novartis site. http://www.novartis.com/newsroom/product-related-info-center/influenza-vaccines-information-center/information-for-doctors.shtml I am not posting to scare you, I absolutely understand how hard it is to get informative information, maybe a good idea to look into the individual manufacturers flu vaccine. Best wishes.
  8. Hi bouncy, I find a lot of the proposals for these changes ambiguous. Thanks for pointing out to me the difference with the company in the telegraph paper. I thought it was a company like the one on 1st link above (sorry thought I put that above). The above quote came from michael gove, I can't check now but pretty sure it came from consultation papers. I also had a look at prospects website, and found nothing about the internal investigation into the queens jubilee re treatment of unemployed. I believe the sub contractors prospect hired were investigated independantly.
  9. prospect services, he company involved with Telegraph story, this is a company that is no longer inspected by Ofsted, gets millions of pounds from government contracts. sorry edited to say, see bottom link. http://www.schoolmailings.com/ Prospects Services has the ?50m prime Work Programme contract for the south-west. In 1995 Prospects was basically the south London schools careers service. Thanks to privatisation it has been transformed into a massive company squeezing cash out of the government. By taking ov"er school inspections, careers services and "benefit-busting" schemes it has grown massively." I have quoted this from link underneath. I do not use computer a lot as I have epilepsy, but I have tried to find out where this companys profits go, but got nowhere. I cannot see how these transactions are not commercial already. Gove states in his consoltation paper, "Organisations granted access would need to comply with the Data Protection Act, and any reports, statistical tables, or other products published or released, would need to fully protect the identity of individuals... It could also help stimulate the market for innovative tools and services which present anonymised versions of the data." Does this mean the third party will anonymise. http://www.morningstaronline.co.uk/news/content/view/full/119935
  10. Hi bouncy, I thought the company involved in the telegraph story, was a commercial company. I dont know much about school mailings and when I googled I was shocked at the amount of online companies, I understand businesses use these companies but couldnt understand why parents were having to pay for information that should be available to them.
  11. Has anyone any idea why the media should have access to pupil data. I find it difficult to find information about education, it seems some parents are paying for information. I genuinely feel education is becoming more about business. I'd like to hear any views.
  12. james, I didn't make myself clear through wrong spelling, i should have put .central goverment are giving no choice. I am aware of the goverments promotion to have our education moved to private sector. This coalition has encouraged and lawfully made it more possible. I find it strange you have said to both Fuschia and myself, the past is the past who cares, but when convenient for you to blame past goverment, it becomes an answer. I truly believe the changes and proposals being made will be detrimental for our children. I shall havd a look at the localism act.
  13. James, i understand what you are saying about central goverment, but surely it is up to local councils to put forward peoples views. If no one objects because central goverment are given no choice can this be partly down to our representives accepting theres no choice. Renata, I'm glad to hear other options are being considered. Interested to see the costs.
  14. I find this very worrying. 7 Proposed Changes 7.1 The Regulations would be amended to allow data to be shared with persons:  conducting research,  or providing information, advice and guidance,  or data based products and services for the purpose of promoting the education or well-being of children in England and who require individual pupil information for that purpose.' For the purpose of regulation ?well-being' means the well-being of children, so far as relating to the matters mentioned in section 507B of the Education Act 1996, namely their:  physical and mental health and emotional well-being;  protection from harm and neglect;  education, training and recreation;  the contribution made by them to society;  social and economic well-being. The proposed amendments would allow the Department for Education to share extracts of data for a wider range of purposes than currently possible. This will enable researchers, educators, professional bodies, the voluntary sector, consultants, education publishers and developers, the media, and other commercial or non-profit organisations to go further in producing research, publications, advice or applications useful to families, education, business and the wider public and help stimulate the market for services underpinned by the data. As under current arrangements, selected data would only be released subject to a robust approval process and with strict terms and conditions on data security, handling and use. http://www.education.gov.uk/aboutdfe/departmentalinformation/consultations/a00216528/prescribed-persons click on consultation document on right side, above quote copied from document. Especially after this http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/news/9485004/Childrens-private-records-leaked-on-internet-from-independent-school-applications.html
  15. he Academy Act 2010 made it possible for all publicly funded schools in England to become academies. Since 2010 there has been a large increase in the number of schools in England that are designated as academies. There were 203 academies in May 2010, 1,070 by September 2011 and 2,309 by September 2012. It is estimated that employment in academies accounts for around 3% of total public sector employment. Office for national statistics released today http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/rel/pse/public-sector-employment/q3-2012/art.html#tab-Summary Local East Dulwich councillors have asked the Harris Federation to deliver one or possibly two primary schools for our area: [jamesbarber.mycouncillor.org.uk] If we don't get such suggest we will be short of 235 reception places by 2016 in the Dulwich, Peckham Rye and Nunhead areas. James, I feel your original post offers no alternatives, almost an ultimatum. Yes people want choices, changes and new ideas but unfortunately when monopolies appear, it often takes away the choice. Are you aware there are other options. When was this discussed with Harris federation. I'm sorry if I've missed any older posts relating to this. I cannot spend long on computer due to my health, so do not want to search.
  16. thanks Renata, I couldnt find it anywhere.
  17. http://www.education.gov.uk/rsgateway/ols-sdssp.pdf James Can you tell me how many children who live in Southwark, go our the borough to schools. I can see the Department for Education stopped publishing these figures, after consultation (link). I take it these figures should be easier for you to get, I imagine you looked at figures when you visited last year. And can you also tell me if Southwark was one of the boroughs who repled to this consultation (link above).
  18. Will they ever learn? Southwark schools, arguably the worst managed in the country, seemed ideal guinea pigs for an experiment in privatising education. (sorry edited to say, above a quote from the press at that time) Yes you are right James, it is the past, but I have found similar attitudes then as I do now. Manipulative powers who refuse to listen to what parents want.My experience with lib dem run Southwark, when my children were moving to secondary, were consultations to see why people were moving out of the borough for schools, which again was found to be a process, this was shown when some parents showed up at the public meeting in the town hall to make sure the councillor was accurately giving our views. This was not the case, and none of the questions that arose were ever answered. There were many parent, teachers and heads of schools who felt there hands were tied back then especially in regard to the mess with the private companies. there were many people willing to learn from this episode but unfortunately not many in local or central goverment. My grandchild will be starting school next September, can you tell me if there will be any choice or consultation with parents.
  19. I think people have made thereself clear about there reasons for not wanting another Harris school. I can't see anywhere on this thread people judging the children. I think it is unfare to say thats whats being said here. My children have all left secondry education, the last year there school became an academy. Yes, there were problems in the school, but still 97% of parents did not want an academy. There was a constant battle for years, first the PFI( pritate financial initiative, which parents, teachers and local community stopped. Then after a long fight to keep it a comprehensive, it was taken over to become an academy. Through whole process, it felt merely a process. I have had no experience with Southwark council and academys, but I do remember albeit a long time ago, sovhwarks dealings with a private firm who won the bidding to manage southwark primary schools, but im sure James would say thats a long time ago, no one cares. , I just can't see how anything on this thread is looking down at children from Harris.
  20. I think if the nurse who gave out the information is lacking professional copetence, the hospital have gave no indication they adressed that with either of the nurses, in fact they have only spoke of there support for them. I think the nurse who gave out the information will now be in a situation where she is not allowed to discuss what reprimand was given if any.
  21. A high court has ordered the little boy is to be returned to his father. Hopefully father and mother can both be there for him. A heartbreaking situation.
  22. I used breastmilk on my daughters eyes when she was a baby, and it worked. I use castor oil for eye infections, as babies I wiped it over eyes when sleeping, its harder and more expensive to get now, it worked everytime.
  23. I am sorry susyp I did not mean to offend, I am not trying to make anyone guilty. I personally believe that it ir not so easy to seperate the mind from body, I'm not saying positivity etc is a cause or cure. In regards to this case involving a young child, i cannot see how lhe pain of not having his mothers love around him, will not have an effect. I am sorry again if I offended you, it was not my intention.
  24. Sorry above post was a google check, somehow I posted here by mistake. Just found out it was because father and mother disagreed it went to court. I wonder if nhs would still have went to court if father and 6ther agreed. I've just found through google a case where father disagreed with mothers choice to not have child vaccinated with mmr, judge ruled in the fathers favour. I do believe that a decision was to be made tomorrow regarding this little boy.
  25. edited as this was a google search, wrong place
