  1. In other news. We're all fucked! http://www.thedailymash.co.uk/news/society/drivers-urged-to-panic-200806111011/
  2. At least their children will still have an equal start in life.
  3. Fine by me. As long as the spare money is used to provide all children with the same high leve of education and private schools are outlawed.
  4. There are systems where citizens can subscribe to a government scheme that gives them a unique reference number, perhaps with an associated document, so that they can prove their identity to other parties. That is hugely different to enforced system of personal identification that criminalises non-participants and is there for a government to have a unique reference to each individual in order to monitor their activities using a central database. It will also allow private companies to do the same. May as well tattoo a number on my arm and have it checked by a trooper everytime a use a public service or travel outside of my alocated zone. I won?t even go into the fact that they will force you pay for this privilege. ?But why should I worry about it if I?m not going to do anything wrong?? A very close friend of mine actually said that to me a while ago. I was exasperated! If you can?t see the problem with that statement you have obviously been bent over for so long you have no hope of ever seeing the sky again.
  5. Huguenot I certainly commend the spirit behind that route. I'm sure that the exclusion of the CPT is merely an oversight. Although my envisaged approach to the afternoon and evening is more of the Kerouacian persuasion rather than the Kamikaze.
  6. I think the vowels we currently use in European alphabets developed the way they did when scripts initially used for Semitic languages were adapted to be used for Indo-European languages like Greek, which was adapted for latin and basically adopted by the rest of us.
  7. My dad used to have one of those ford escorts.
  8. So it?s not because space is in fact not a vacuum at all and you can quite safely travel into and around it but the secret world government has hidden this fact from us in order to keep us under submission and stop us interacting with the rest of the Free Galaxy? Do you work for the government Huguenot?
  9. Notting Hill? What like in the film? Surely that isn?t a real place.
  10. Well, you learn somethink new everyday.
  11. that's easy. My uncle was town planner for most of the 1980's.
  12. If a thermos flask works on the principle that heat does not exchange through a vacuum, why do we feel the sun?s heat?
  13. Marmora Man Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > BTW - it might be interesting to test the 6 / 7 > degrees of separation theory on EDF members - but > how would we do it? You could try to do it by setting a reference point like a town perhaps and then seeing how many steps it takes each person to get back to that town.
  14. What I don?t get is this. Each of us has 2 parents, 4 Grandparents, 8 Great-grandparents etc. There is this ever expanding number people trailing off, ad infinitum into the murky depths of history responsible for our singular existence. So surely the world?s population must be getting smaller with every generation.
  15. The Magdala is a good suggestion ?_Ed as after 6 pubs there will be a need for pizza.
  16. ?Legal requirement means they HAVE to expand and do ANYTHING to increase shareholder value - morals don't come into it.? Eh? Is the law not just an organized, social expression of human morality? If it isn?t there is something seriously fuckedup with society.
  17. Now I've just read back and seen that Keef says he can't do the 26th? Sorry mate thought that post was was the other way around. What say folks for the 19th?
  18. Get yee behind me Satan. EDITED: Because I originally wrote "Get yeah behind me Satan" which just sounds like an Iron Maiden lyric.
  19. I?m more of a common consensus man me. It diminishes my responsibility. ;-)
  20. The Wishing Well sounds good Keef. I?ve never been there. Do you reckon it will be a viable option in-between Hooper?s and the Gowlette? Or will that involve too much walking? Looks like this may have to become the Camberwell/Peckham/East Dulwich Pub Crawl.
  21. Ahh. So not like poetry love then. Although considering the strength and depth of men?s feelings towards beer and pork pies. Anyway enough sillyness. What do all you folks say to 26 July?
  22. Now even though that freaks me out a bit David I have to say I really can?t blame you man.
  23. This just popped into my inbox but I can?t properly trace the originator. I?m all for consumer action and will always go out of my way to cause even the slightest bit of annoyance to any person or organisation that has a disproportionate amount of power. I am just curious if anyone else has seen this or knows where it originates from? Is it valid consumer action or just corporate vindictiveness? See below. ?We are hitting ?1.23 a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying ?2.00 a ltr. Philip Hollsworth offered this good idea: This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT,whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join in! Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea: For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP. If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... .. THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!! Acting together we can make a difference . If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 69p a LITRE RANGE It's easy to make this happen. Just forward this email, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda, Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. i.e. boycott BP and Esso?
  24. What about 19 or 26 July? D_C, Hannah, will you guys still be in London?
  25. Hannah I think you are right. This will have to be a Saturday as I doubt it will be possible on a Friday. Keefs entire route will require 2 days followed by a visit to the emergency room. Any thoughts on this route? 1. Canning 2. Hoopers 3. Gowlette 4. EDT, Bishop or Black Cherry 5. Drum 6. Uplands 7. CPT 8. Plough Onion, Bobby, you will only have to run if there is someone chasing you.
