  1. Non-regulation of commercial practices will just make it easier for businesses to exploit vulnerable people. This will see the rich get richer and the poor poorer. With that kind of situation how can you guarantee equal access to education and healthcare unless the state provides it? As for defence, I am of the opinion that if the UK showed less aggression it wouldn?t have to waste so much money on defence.
  2. Surely the worst thing about Starbucks at Sainsbury?s is the fact that the door doesn?t open automatically. This is positively undoorlike behaviour for the egress from a modern day supermarket. It has foxed me on a number of occasions. I have had to stand around pillock like for up to 30 seconds whilst my grey matter reassess it?s current place in the universe and subsequent purpose and then sets itself about the task of sending door opening instructions to the relevant muscles. Ludicrous!
  3. Did you dictate that to one of your students?
  4. Hi Chantelle. If you need to commute to Blackfriars then anywhere near Lordship Lane is also viable as you can just catch the 185, 176 or 40 down the road to Denmark Hill station in the mornings. It only takes about 10mins from all the way up near the library. Should be quicker once they finish those fucking roadworks too. Ps. don?t listen to estate agents. It?s the economic equivalent of taking medical advice from a homeopath. ;-)
  5. It sounds like a recipe to further entrench privilege and to widen the gap between rich and poor. It is an idea of ?Freedom? often favoured by big business. They like it so much because it gives them the freedom to exploit people.
  6. Nah. Must be the new flats. Palace View they're caslled. :-S Anyway does that make the Bishop and the EDT the kidneys of ED.
  7. That's the "before" shot. Sure you think you're da man on the costa del sol but next thing you know you're doing 19 hour shifts in the sweet boiling room and being forced to sing for the master's guests.
  8. Men have used fake tan in the past. The results are not pretty and very few ever recover. Most of them can't integrate back into society and are forced to live out their days as slave labourers in factories run by insane megalomaniacs.
  9. I fear for the peoples of this world, that they may all not have the opportunity to bask in the warmth of my brilliance. That and cabbages. Have you ever smelt a cabbage field?
  10. rosscoe Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > no i just think a bunch of idiots, in their 30s at > least, marauding down a street on a saturday might > have something better to do. hmm... Nope, nothing I can think of.
  11. "the forum" isn't a entity anymore than "the airwaves" or "the english language" are. It is hardly has some kind of unified voice. It is just a tool for people to sepak to each other with.
  12. Cabbages.
  13. For gods? sake man! Don?t do it. Your willy will fall off! ::o
  14. I have flipped a coin. the gods have spoken. It is the 26th. Sorry Keef mate but who am I to argue with fate.
  15. gut, moobs and crap tattoos Sounds like it could be a ska song.
  16. I think it is a toss up between 19th and 26th of July. 2nd August is the day after forum drink so probably not a good idea.
  17. Fucking madness that. In fact even if I lived in the middle of nowhere I wouldn't be bored.
  18. With only 8 pubs we can drink shorts without vomiting too much.
  19. I?m for this route. 1. Canning - Maybe starting with some food. 2. Hoopers 3. Gowlette 4. EDT, Bishop or Black Cherry 5. Drum 6. CPT 7. Magdala - Pizza 8. Plough All very civilised I know but I'm sure we will find ways to lower the tone.
  20. Yeah I wasn't being entirely serious. This old liver of mine aint what it used to be you know.
  21. If it wasn?t for people dreaming unjust systems would never be destroyed. I am an idealist and I will never buy into this idea of acceptance things as "having to be that way". A life not subject to an oppressive monarchy may have seemed like a dream to Frenchman in the 18th centaury. EDITED: coz ideologist wsn't really the right word.
  22. Stereotypes cause offence to people when the people in the group being stereotyped feel insecure in their own identity. This can be for valid reasons such as, given their socio political history, black South Africans taking understandable offence to racially derogatory language used by white people. Or for non-valid reasons such as people being jumped up privileged idiots with a skewed sense of their place in the world. ?But this means that there are different rules for different people? You say. Yes, yes it does. But they are not rules, just general guidelines on how not to be a dick.
  23. Yeah but if you do about 8 pubs you can have a proper drink in each one and there's not such a sense of urgency about the whole thing. I can see the value in both approaches. They will be very different days though. Tell you what Keef. We do a slow stroll of 8 pubs growing slowly drunk over the afternoon on the Saturday. Then on Sunday it?s a mad dash of 20 pubs. Then spend Monday on a drip.
  24. Any of those are ok with me. Although preferably not the 4th.
