Bakerloo line extension to Camberwell?
Bic Basher replied to Ron70's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip

The decision to not extend the Overground to Wimbledon via ED was taken before BoJo came into power. It was a choice between ED or the Sydenham line getting the ELL. It was shown that it'd benefit them more which has been proven thanks to the over popularity of the service from FH and HOP. Boris did axe the Cross River Tram and the Croydon Tramlink extension to Crystal Palace. He did extend the bikes into South London, but to Wandsworth and Putney instead. -

Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Just looked up trains for tomorrow, and they are > running, but only every half hour (18 and 48 past > the hour). > > I thought they were more frequent than that on > Saturdays - have I imagined it? Trains are normally every 15 mins on Sunday from ED, however the services via Streatham Common are cancelled due to engineering works. -
Bakerloo line extension to Camberwell?

Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Apparently if an extension was to happen, > camberwell and peckham is not even the favoured > route. Southwark are favouring the option to extend the Bakerloo via Camberwell and Peckham, while Lewisham want it to go along the Old Kent Road towards New Cross. -
Buses were still on diversion at 5.30 through Forest Hill, but appears to be on route according to the TfL website.

Amy Lame' as new Labour MP for Dulwich/W Norwood?
Bic Basher replied to Nigello's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Amy wouldn't be the first media personality to go into the Commons. The ex GMTV news presenter Gloria De Piero is a Labour MP in the East Midlands and former Holiday presenter Esther McVey is the Minister for Employment. -
It won't happen due to the Dulwich Estate's protectionism, but McDonalds is probably another viable option for the site, it's on the South Circular so would attract passing custom. However, I'd like to see the return of a pub/restaurant or a hotel.

Buses are also on diversion. P4 is running through Forest Hill to get to Brockley Rise and the P12 is running along Honor Oak Road.

TfL are consulting with the public to extend the 136 bus along the 343 bus route to the Elephant via North Peckham. It's designed to help relieve the overcrowding on the 343 along Southampton Way and on the Aylesbury Estate. If you use the 343, fill in the consulation on the TfL website and support the proposals. https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/buses/routes-136-and-343

Heathrow or Gatwick from ED?

The Peckham Rye - LGW > route is maybe about an hour. If going to Heathrow and don't fancy the Piccadilly line, you can also go from Clapham Junction to Feltham and then a short ride on the 285 bus which takes around 20/25 mins. -
I've been to the M Local on New Oxford Street and wasn't overly impressed compared to the Sainsburys Local on LL or Tesco Express. However despite Sainsburys being close by, Morrisons may be able to make a go of it considering the footfall from the station which will be more convenient to go to in comparison to the superstore.

The rubbish collection was on Friday as normal here, recycling has been moved from Friday to Sunday.

Best route to blackheath on public transport?
Bic Basher replied to yeknomyeknom's topic in The Lounge
The last direct train from Blackheath to PR is the 1904 to Victoria, at other times, change at London Bridge. -
I'd also consider adding that extra train to call at Peckham Rye, however that may be enough for the Kent commuter groups to campaign against it in the same way the proposals for Kent Coast services to call at DH and PR were scrapped before.

Best travel route to Goodge Street at rush hour?
Bic Basher replied to poppet27's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Most Northern line tubes from Oval run via the Bank branch, while Goodge Street is on the Charing Cross branch. However it's a simple cross platform change at Kennington. -
If you're at top of HOP, you should be fine with an indoor aerial as we're close enough to Crystal Palace to receive a very strong signal. I have three indoor aerials for my tv's, two are manufactured by Telecam and are no longer stocked, however the third which is in the kitchen and blocked by a thick wall pulls in the all of the Freeview channels with no break up. It's a One For All aerial for ?9.99. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/1074815.htm

My mother receives a warm home discount every winter, as she has a pre-payment meter, EDF her supplier have an arrangement where she can get the credit added to her pre-payment electricity key via Paypoint retailers. However it's always a mission to try and get a retailer with Paypoint to actually know what to do. So far, I've tried Vals and Costcutter by the library with her. Excuse one, "only the PO do it" which isn't true, the second retailer said he doesn't know how to use the machine for that function. Is there any retailer in ED who actually knows about the scheme and will redeem her barcode vouchers for her?

I haven't seen the rats in Sainsburys park for a while now, it did get to the point last year I'd see them running through the bushes while walking up the footpath every time I'd visit.

I did an autotune on my digital radio (DAB) earlier and it found some radio stations which appear to broadcast to Surrey, Eagle FM and BBC Radio Surrey were two that I found. Is the wind blowing in our direction because of the recent misty weather and does anyone else with digital radio getting those stations round here?

New entrance to Denmark Hill station

The Overground replaced the inner loop at the majority of stations served by the old service, with an increase of services by two trains per hour. However, you need to change at Peckham Rye or Queens Road Peckham to continue to South Bermondsey or London Bridge. In the other direction, one train per day diverts to Battersea Park, otherwise change at Clapham Junction. During late evenings and Sundays, there's no direct service to Victoria, so changing at High Street or Junction is the only way to reach Victoria by rail. Since the change with more trains, it's made it more viable to change for the tube at Clapham High Street, which is a short walk to Clapham North tube.
