  1. Muley

    Changing Names

When it began being produced more economically in China, probably. Which reminds me, why did Peking become Beijing. Or Bombay become Mumbai?
  2. It's a small distinction, and of no comfort to the Afrikaans, but didn't the British action against the Boers ultimately have a military purpous rather than being motivated by concepts of racial purity/inferiority? BTW Is that a stag do arranged by predictive text?
  3. The Man Don't Give a F*ck- Super Furry Animals T'was a jape HB
  4. Although 'The' is a tenuous link...
  5. By The Time I Get To Phoenix- Glen Campbell
  6. Summer Holiday- Sir Cliff
  7. As a CP Rd resident I welcome the refurb work, but a couple of points- We received no notification about the work (nor did our neighbours). Even a sign put up in the road informing residents, and all those who use CP Rd as a rat-run, about the impending disruption would have been useful. Then, yesterday morning a large stone slab in our front path (actually the threshold between our path and the pavement, but inside our front gate and on our property) lifted and cracked into several pieces when a JCB was ripping up the old tarmac pavement. These cracked pieces now wobble underfoot and as a result my four year old tripped over and fell when returning from nursery in the afternoon (no injury, but it could have been nasty). This morning on the way out I asked the workmen for the broken pieces to be made level and stable when they're laying the new paving slabs. They agreed at the time, but who knows? It'll be interesting to see what state my path and the pavement will be in when I return this evening.
  8. One for the drawing room, surely?
  9. Slow Life- Super Furry Animals
  10. It's new, it looks good and it's level, unlike the 'moonsurface' trip-hazard tarmac we've got at present. Also, it'll make an excellent racetrack for hyperactive nippers on microscooters! (My two can't wait).
  11. Boiled Beef & Carrots- Some Old Music Hall Geezer
  12. I Am The Law- Human League
  13. Call The Law- Outkast
  14. (I Love It When You) Call Me Names- Joan Armatrading
  15. Ant Music- Adam And The Ants
  16. EDmummy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Apologies, I am a foreigner - what I meant was a > 'pavement'. *Aghast* "You mean you're from SE15?"
  17. Knocking On Heavens Door- Dylan
  18. I Can Hear The Grass Grow- The Move
  19. It's exactly the same, except your yogis chant 'OM' and your wimplists chant 'Oh f*ck I'm on fire'
  20. I think you organic your own clothes from hemp, set yourself alight, inhale deeply and hold...
  21. Nuns wear habits. And wimples. But you never hear of anyone with a drug wimple, do you? Well do you?
  22. Three Miles High- The Byrds
  23. Three Coins In The Fountain- Frank Sinatra Oh, there'll be plenty of bracing PGC! But I'd no idea you knew Psittacosis- she was my fourth wife, if memory serves (it was a stormy, short-lived marriage, many years ago). She is best avoided though, the old harridan.
  24. Bells of Aberdovey- Any old Welsh folk singer Blimey, the power of Pinky and Perky! Just back from a weekend away with that Emily Maitliss (great legs, but a right moody mare) when all the time there was a better offer from PGC! I'm up for it- what's it to be, run away to sea or run off and join the circus? I'd prefer the first 'cos of my peg leg and the parrot on my shoulder (I say parrot, it's a parakeet from Goose Green, but I'm putting parrot on the application form when we join the pirates or they'll just laugh). Anyway, the circus has that whole clown thing going on...
