what really pisses me off on this site is people advertize 4 things or help and when u wanna give it they dont reply, are the people of dulwich so tight? yes i guess they are they want something or help and when it comes to it they STILL want it for free, but i ask myself if they were advertising and wanted to sell someting they would want paying, since i have been on this forum i have answered wanted and get quite a few answers back but no buys, so i suggest the peeps of dulwich spend ur money like every one else, if u need it then buy it dulwich people think they r better than peckham peeps but at least if peck peeps wan something then they r willing to pay.soall i have to say is DULWICH PEOPLE ARE TIGHT.

Substitute DULWICH PEOPLE for such as Little Feat, The Eagles, Free or The Nice and you have a Bob Harris Old Grey Whistle Test comment from the 19mumbletymumbles. Nice one Chich, as Bob himself would have put it, and indeed still surely would.

Though I believe he did qualify Little Feat as having a degree of 'looseness' about them as well.

He was scrupulously fair in that regard.

I think she's a very young female.

A young male wouldn't bother writing stuff like that, and would not be so eloquent.

*goes back to the bread machine collected off someone from here selling it for ?20, sits on balcony with flowers, plants and watering can all bought from people on here for very little money, listens to personal DAB radio (planet rock, natch) I bought off here for just a tenner the other day, puts wine in fridge, given to me unexpectedly in exchange for something I gave away recently, and makes intention never to do the * thing again.*

Chichi - I think you should chill out a little and not take it personally. I'm not really sure what your gripe is but if you've offered something for sale and it hasn't worked out then just let it go - move on. You're quite new to the forum so it's way too early for you to have a grudge against us. Try posting in the main sections and getting to know people. I'm sure there are some very tight people in ED but there are also generous ones to balance that out. Same everywhere.

One woman's junk is another woman's treasure.

I've sold tons of stuff on here. I admit that I could have got more for it than I received. However I am very happy to let stuff go more cheaply if it means less hassle (i.e. avoiding ebay) AND I know that it is keeping our very local ED economy going. For me that's a good trade-off. I have also given stuff away for free, and this has been most satisfying for all involved.

Conversely, I have placed items up for sale and no-one has shown the slightest bit of interest (anyone remember those place mats? Or that ergonomic wrist support)? So what? Obviously the demand was not there at the time, and being the stubborn mule that I am, I may well try again (pre-Christmas is a good time!). However, I do believe that it is a little ungracious of you to make the sweeping statement that ED people are "tight" - refer to giggirl's comment above.

Don't give up using the For Sale section (it's a fantastic facility - and it costs you NOTHING) - if the demand for your goods is there, then someone will buy. Otherwise, there's always ebay (*shudders*).

    • The problem is not generally with the stores or drivers - who generally are doing the best they can and receive peanuts for each package. (Rumored that Evri will pay only 20-30p to a shop that receives/sends a parcel). The problem is the business model of these courier companies that do not invest in infrastructure or depots, but just outsource everything and set "contractor" drivers impossible targets. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2019/dec/08/christmas-parcel-delivery-drivers-driven-to-the-edge
    • I don’t think that this is a Barry’s-specific issue in the area. I’m constantly having parcels refused for delivery at the InPost lockers outside the Family Store on Upland as well as at the Esso garage by the Rye
    • I was several miles away and I didn't miss it, as apparently didn't lots of others also several miles away. But as I and others reported although we guessed it was fireworks it sounded more like the WWI front line, albeit from a distance!
