KalamityKel
Apparently there's a change of use being submitted from a A1 (bank) to a D1 (Veterinary surgery)http://planbuild.southwark.gov.uk:8190/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=summary&keyVal=_STHWR_DCAPR_9567577 Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/116534-hsbc-bank-building-in-lordship-lane/#findComment-1028627 Share on other sites

Louisa
I think it's great to have something practical and servicing the community in this spot rather than another restaurant. Lots of elderly people have pets and don't drive, this will be a welcome addition to the heart of the community.Louisa. Earl Aelfheah
I agree with Lou - it's good to see something a bit practical opening up on the Lane. Jeremy
Yep. Think ED is reaching restaurant saturation. Presumably their old Peckham Rye site is being redeveloped? first mate
Yes, think the PR site was being scoped for the usual, a supermarket with flats above. Ah, that'll add character. Bic Basher
I'm happy with that. I won't be surprised if Sainsbury's acquire the current Vets in Peckham Rye. TheCat
Happy enough that its going to be a vet, but from a business perspective to me it seems like a waste of money for a vet to take high street commercial space. Vet's are the type of business that I wouldn't think really need high street exposure or footfall, so could easily save some cash with back street premises. but hey, their business, so I could be wrong.... first mate
Yes, but they have been pushed out of the right spot opposite the park by a bloomin' developer supermarket combo, so glad they will have somewhere and not be forced out of the area altogether. Also looks like they will keep integrity of HSBC building for most part. Would hate to see yet another homogenised brick and render bland-build a la M&S and Harris. edcam
Is that Neighbourhood Vets? If so, I'm thrilled, as we're getting a new pup and they get really good reviews here PLUS it's closer to home! goosey-goosey
We use NVs. Not such good news for us. The HSBC site is surely smaller than their current premises and there's no (or little) parking by comparison. Pity our poor pussy. spark67
Great they are not moving out of the area, I am sure they will make use of being on the high street by extending their range of pet products that have in stock in their store area, something to replace the loss of the pet shop on Northcross rd... be interesting to see how they use the space. As for the carpark, I think they will have more space as there is parking around the back of the bank, They have terrible problems with people using the rye parking in the present space, and on more than one occasion someone has parked right across the entrance blocking people in or from going in (happened to me with a van driver, had to leave the cat in the vets until he eventually turned up, then was really rude when questioned about his parking choice) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/116534-hsbc-bank-building-in-lordship-lane/#findComment-1030506 Share on other sites

Sazzle30
Just popped into neighbourhood vets, they have confirmed they are NOT closing their practice near Barry road. poppet27
They also expanded to Crofton Park so business must be good to have 4 vets within a 2mile radius. They've always been a lovely team. I hope they'll always stick to their high standards and friendly care.
