I can't wait for series 5 boxset to come out, I've been rewatching Rome, and starting Deadwood recently (Deadwood is wicked, finished series 1, waiting for lovefilm to kick me off on 2), but nothing has quite drawn me in like The Wire.

That'll learn me...I ploughed through the first 9 episodes of season 5 on a streaming site only to get to the last episode which is unwatchable! Serves me right I suppose...but for the love of God...I'm stuck.

could you really not wait until Sept 22 (that's the day the DVD of Season 5 is released in the UK). Made the mistake of ordering a dodgy pirate copy of the final season of the Sopranos because I couldn't wait. Quality was ok as far as it goes but it wasn't the same.. Man's gotta have a code. You feel me ?

I hear ya bon3yard, but there are other series to watch in the mean time... I am currently very much enjoying Deadwood series 2, and the remainder of the series, plus series 3 (final series) should take me nicely up to Wire series 5 landing on the doormat... Other recommendations if you haven't seen them would include Sopranos (obviously) and Rome (bloody great IMO).

Thanks for the heads-up Keef but am already very well aquainted with both The Sopranos and Deadwood(wasnt impressed with Rome...sorry). Battlestar Galactica series 3 is still awaiting my delectation though.

I've been ploughing through Peep Show as managed to get series (is that it's own plural?) 1 through 5 for ?12 at the airport.

In HMV recently I got all 3 series of The Royale Family, plus the special they did last year for ?15. Mrs Keef and I have been laughing lots rewatching those, especially any scene with nanna in!

I really liked Rome, which reminds me, has onyone watched The House of Saddam over the last couple of weeks? It's another HBO/BBC project, and it's been okay. Doesn't paint him in a sympathetic light, but does make you think about some of the decisions he had to make over the years.

Yup! House Of Saddam is looking pretty good and coming from someone who doesn't watch much telly its definitely getting a thumbs up from me. So far so good.

Season 5 is moving towards a tense finale, methinks. Without giving anything away, it can be quite uncomfortable viewing at times, knowing that something must give way (edited out of courtesy after Mockney's post, but must stress it was not a spoiler!)

I've only got 2 episodes left and then no more wire for me:'(

What can possibly fill the void?

I guess I'll have to start at season 1 again.

Its a miniseries currently airing in the US called 'Generation Kill'. Its had universally great reviews.

We actually watched the first ever episode again the other night. Was quite cool to watch it again knowing what we now know.
