...not looking rosy...

Since Friday, I've received 4 calls from friends who have phoned to tell me that, although they should have left at the weekend, they've no chance of departing till (at the very least) tomorrow night.

Still, better to be safe than sorry.

I'm feeling quite relieved at the moment that I didn't have enough holiday days to go up to Scotland early for Christmas. I have my fingers firmly crossed that the airports re-open for my Thursday flight... although am considering trying to pick up a turkey crown to stick in the freezer just in case...
I just checked the weather for the week as I too am dependent on it clearing to make it away for xmas. It looks as though there will be a slight thaw by Thursday, but whether that's enough to get everyone away in time I don't know.

Yep, I'm in a similar position: due to fly out to Singapore on Christmas Eve. But I'm not going to worry about it. I'd much rather be delayed than fly prematurely and...

Besides, I've got 100s of things to do before we leave LOL!

Huguenot, you need to lower your voice...I fear such kindness will be detrimental to your scary reputation.

That's exceedingly generous of you. We'd have loved to have attended. However, given that our plane isn't scheduled to land till 14.55 on Christmas Day itself, we might be more than a little zombified and therefore unfit for company having only just stepped off the plane. But I am touched: thank you.

It's funny, I've just been investigating the importation of pork pies into Singapore...you might just get lucky - provided you continue to be nice, of course.

Are the ALL odd?

(Sorry.)

(I'll get my coat.)

I am currently on a trip round Argentina with a group of 6 - we were supposed to be a group of 17 but the remainder couldn?t get out of UK in time to join the tour. They must all be gutted. Any way I am having a lovely time! Please can the snow be gone by Jan 4th!

PS Ladymuck some people on my tour are friend with your neighbours!

Have you managed to fit in any football matches!? Guess you weren't here when Arsenal lost to Man. U:)).

Glad you are having a wonderful time. Here's hoping you get back without too much drama. Unfortunately, there is little chance of the snow being gone by the 4th of January. T says, more likely the 4th of July!

We're itching to know which of our lovely neighbours you speak...(PM with details please). Enjoy the rest of your holiday and come back safely. xx

PS: if you bump into Lionel Messi, give him a big kiss and try and persuade to come to Man U (or failing that, Arsenal - if he must;-)).

PPS: T sends big kiss x.

    • So, i've had time to think about ever step of this incident. The main points are: I'd entered my pin number and was on the screen/page where you put in how much you want to withdraw At exactly that point the guy appeared and said the machine had taken his card, and started waving his hands over screen A 'menu' option came up on screen with two choices, one bottom left, one bottom right The bottom left option said something about entering a code to continue with transaction The guy was saying "press that or it'll take your card" - I didn't press either but he might have I haven't ever seen these on-screen options before - I didn't enter any details The guy then disappeared I pressed the 'cancel' button on keypad - the physical keypad - same screen options remained - no card was returned Within 30 seconds of me realising card wasn't coming out I froze card on banking app and immediately had two txt msgs from bank saying transactions were being declined (but one for £251 had already gone though). The ref on bank statement for all three was: CARDTRONICS UK LTD BT KIOSK O/S 54 EA. Bank statement also said the date, time and that there was a £1.50 ATM withdrawl fee.  I checked to see if there's a cashpoint in newsagent next door, but there's not. The cashpoint at petrol station is free so no ATM fee there eiher.
    • Indeed and I am sure many will go for the music, which I also like. But, for me, at least, none of that makes up for or justifies the wider impact on the park, on the flora and fauna, on the parks' regular users, and on those living near by that are distressed by the noise- the next three days will not be Lover's Rock. In terms of overall impact, we are also talking weeks and months, with the aftermath always problematic with the main area so damaged it has to be reseeded each year and is rendered unusable the rest of summer. My biggest fear is that they will start to grow and add to this event, each year.
    • Please help us find Yun LAU.  He was last seen on Dunstans Road at 12.30 today (23/5/25). He has dementia and is quite deaf. If found, please call police who have his details, or his daughter Jennie (07769666524)
    • Was v. quick for me the other day and four people were ahead of me.
