The Dulwich Hamlet match reports are a guilty pleasure for me, here's a snippet from a match report earlier this year. They are er... not your normal match reports.

"As the sun lightly toasted pallid skins exposed to the first burst of summer's bounty, the game was afoot. Blistering heat, blistering pace. No doubt buoyed by Churchillian orations from the respective managers both teams were off like hounds upon the scent of the fox but pell-mell football ensured, a steadying hand and the huntsman's trump needed to bring headstrong hounds to heel and set them upon the true trail to triumph. As the dust clouds swirled in the gladiatorial arena, defences reigned, Nyren Clunis swamped by yellow shirts when close to goal, Francis Duku beaten in the air by the Hillians' ambling alp, Danny Gainsford. Kalvin Morath-Gibbs popped a header wide, flying like a flacon to meet an incoming free kick."

This season's match reports haven't quite got going yet, but a good attempt from a few weeks ago..

"Whilst gilded youth and guns for hire of the Premiership play for places, pride and the dubious glory of the trip to some backwater of the former Soviet Bloc come next summer, down in the boondocks of the Non League Football, the old credo of winner takes all still rings. Some will break the bank to take their team to the title, the only position take guarantees promotion without the agonies of playoffs, others will invest in youth, spend the few shekels they have on proven talent and Non League nous. Such is Sittingbourne, haunted by the ghosts of past ambitions, when like Icarus they crashed and burned amid accusations of dirty dealing, from those into whose care the club had fallen but who would sell that heritage for a mess of potage."

Sorry Laddy Muck, I've only just noticed this thread that you started after all these months.

It's been quite a season so far. Fingers crossed for the rest of season. The next two away matches (Whitehawk on Saturday and Bognor Regis the following Tuesday) will both be tough and a good indication as to how strong they really are.

I've just posted the following details of fixture changes that now take place in October in the What's on Section:

Saturday 1st October - the scheduled league home match is postponed - Dulwich are instead away to Sutton United in the next round of the FA Cup.

So the next home games scheduled are:

Tuesday 4th October - Merstham at home in the Ryman League (although it could be postponed if either team has a cup replay).

Saturday 8th October - Godalming Town at home in the League Cup (new date)

Tuesday 11th October - Hythe Town at home in the Ryman League (new date).

Thanks for your support and keep spreading the word.

The youth team are on the march again.

In the FA Youth Cup last year they reached the 3rd round proper of the competition - beating Yeovil Town before losing to Newcastle United, both of them memorable evenings at Champion Hill.

This year they had to start all the way back in the preliminary round again and were handed three successive away ties!

Nevertheless they won their first tie at Sutton United 3-2 (having come from behind to do so) and tonight have cleared the next hurdle winning 4-0 at Molesey.

They will be away to either Welling United or Lingfield in the next round. Hopefully they can win that and get to play a tie at Champion Hill at last.

    • @Earl, Be assured, it is purely a local group. In fact it is a genteel group of Dulwich area residents, mostly ladies , who are a little  reluctant to publish their individual names as they do not wish to be targets for hostility from internet trolls. Local residents who attended the anti-LTN gatherings in Dulwich would have easily recognised the active members of the group. Should you have any queries about funding, it is quite easy to send them an email.
    • Hi  I have a spare old wheelbarrow that you could have for free. You’d need to come and collect it from Telegraph Hill, so drop me a message if you’re still looking and we can arrange a time best wishes carrie
    • This is quite a serious allegation. What evidence is there of this? Pressured how and by whom? This is quite a spin on ‘it’s been agreed with the emergency services’. They think the vehicles pictured driving through with partially covered plates are the result of ‘poor signage’ 🤔  If it is as they say ‘small numbers’ driving through the square, that doesn’t suggest that the signage is unclear. I mean who honestly believes it’s possible to drive through there without noticing the signs / planters (assuming you’re driving with due care and attention)?! 🤨  Also, haven’t ‘One’ opposed any improvements to the layout / landscaping and signage proposed by Southwark? It’s all a bit desperate. At the height of the LTN ‘controversy’ a number of co-ordinated ‘One’ groups popped up across London. It doesn’t feel like a local grassroots movement, but has all the hallmarks of astroturfing. The lack of transparency about it’s funding / sponsorship and structure does not help with this impression.
    • Hi there, My children and I are adopting 4 ex-battery hens and seeking a secondhand home for them, let me know if you have anything, of any style that might fit four feathered ladies in. I can collect at your convenience this weekend or during the week.    Warmest, Hannah
