What is wrong with you MP.....only those that like what you like now have taste? Just have a sensible discussion without trying to see insult in everything I write. Objective criticism is different to subjective criticism...that's ALL I am saying.

I can see your point Bob. I don't agree though that Glastonbury should be exlcusive for this type of show or that. I watched Julian Temple's Doc on Glastonbury the other day and that charts the festival's evolution brilliantly. And it's had to evolve just because of it's success more than anything. I think the thousand's of people in the crowd were more than happy to see Beyonce there. And for me, that Glastonbury now beings together such a diverse range and style of act I think is what a music festival should be all about - a celebration of everything that is music...no?

I'm not sure the prejudice is aimed at her directly, it's more at the "Beyonce" package as a whole. Other artists get/suffer this too.

The glaring publicity we get steam rollered at us has run out of superlatives & comparisons, so it starts to look fake and disingenuous. In fact it irritates the hell out of some people, to such an extent that we develop a near subconcious knee-jerk rejection of the artist.

I personally have nothing against Beyonce but have I:

Bought her records? NO

Seen her live? NO

Even downloaded a track on my i-tunes? NO

However, I loved the show she did at Glasto. It was show business at its "showiest" & almost Vegas like. She is utterly gorgeous & talented.

Had Evil Kneivil* leapt over the Pyramid with her on the back of a flaming harley-davidson, whilst singing, would I have been suprised ? probably not.

So she and others suffer a "yeah, whatever" response to most of what they do. It's the flip side of over kill branding.

It looks mega-corp, it feels mega-corp and it is mega-corp.

And in that she's brilliant, absolutely excellent.

Evil Kneivil* I know.

But people often say someone is rubbish purley because they don't 'like' their music. And that's what irritates me. I don't particularly like the music of Lady Gaga, but that doesn't mean that she isn't good at what she does (she obviously is, and has a pretty good voice too).

And that's also my point about festivals.....if you go to an R'n'B festival...you expect to see R'n'B acts. Glastonbury has several stages and is diverse in what it offers. Beyonce is as much in place there as anyone else imo.

    • Second time Aria has completed a plumbing job for me and both times he’s been polite. Communicative, kept to time and completed the job. He’s very helpful and tidy as well. First job was ball valve in water tank, not easy at all. He and his team were fantastic. This time kitchen tap cylinders replaced and tap tightened.  Much appreciated, Aria thank you.
    • Thought others may be interested to help a local community centre help others.    My bank account offers roundup and it’s been growing all year. As well as treating myself or putting it towards a train ticket to see my family I’ve made a donation to the Albrighton. They can use donations at any time but I hope my donation will go towards the Christmas hampers.    Can you support them so they can provide Christmas hampers?   https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/albrightoncommunityfridge?utm_id=1&utm_term=M22JKQb6W   A donation of £50 will pay for a hamper to feed a family over this Christmas period. A donation of £30 will pay for a hamper to feed someone living on their own over the Christmas period.
    • I've never got Christmas pudding. The only times I've managed to make it vaguely acceptable to people is thus: Buy a really tiny one when it's remaindered in Tesco's. They confound carbon dating, so the yellow labelled stuff at 75% off on Boxing Day will keep you going for years. Chop it up and soak it in Stones Ginger Wine and left over Scotch. Mix it in with a decent vanilla ice cream. It's like a festive Rum 'n' Raisin. Or: Stick a couple in a demijohn of Aldi vodka and serve it to guests, accompanied by 'The Party's Over' by Johnny Mathis when people simply won't leave your flat.
    • Not miserable at all! I feel the same and also want to complain to the council but not sure who or where best to aim it at? I have flagged it with our local MP and one Southwark councillor previously but only verbally when discussing other things and didn’t get anywhere other than them agreeing it was very frustrating etc. but would love to do something on paper. I think they’ve been pretty much every night for the last couple of weeks and my cat is hating it! As am I !
