We are so inconsistent!

Ignoring the result though, we had quite a few positives last night.

A totally unexpected result

A clean sheet for Pepe

3 Scousers on the pitch (which would have been 5 had Kelly and Gerrard not been injured). One of them, Flanagan, played his debut and had belter of a game

Suarez is immense and I think he's going to make quite a mark on the premiership next season

Carroll scores his first goal and then gets another (Shame is wasn't Kop end)

Cracking atmosphere

Credit to the Man City fans for impeccably observing the minutes silence for the Hillsborough 96, Jan Fairclough and Mark Burgan

Great win for Liverpool.

Annasfield, interested to know if Liverpool fans want to catch Spurs and get a Europa League finish or rather Spurs caught City to claim the 4th Champions League spot?

If I were a Liverpool plan I guess I would just go with Spurs getting the 4th CL slot and therfore City the Europa. You would then avoid all those Sunday games that you get if you qualify for the Europa and City probably will probably not be able to get the top quality players who would only come if they were in the CL. It would then give a resurgent Liverpool a chance to concentrate on the league next year and even if winning the league is a step too far a much better chance of CL qualification.

Thats a tricky one for me and there are lots of factors to it.

1. In my opinon in Liverpool should always be in some form of European competition

2. We have to be in it. How else am I meant to chose my holiday destinations?

3. If we're not in it we can focus on getting back in to the top 4

4. If we're not in it my credit card balance will reduce considerably

If we don't get a European place this season, I would rather Man City go in to the Champions League over Spurs. All the Spurs fans I know have been insufferable this season. I don't have any Man City mates so it would be more bearable.

I think Spurs fans deserve to gloat a bit this season given how well they have done in CL and would prefer them rather than City to get CL spot.

Why on earth did Chelsea not start with Drogba up front? United fans in the pub were delighted he wasn't starting and worried as soon as he came on in the second half.

So Much to read and they don't understand

We think is better to hand it back the trophy to the real winer

London is right we are wrong and You Win.

Hope we can have a better sleep tonight!

I watched the video clip to see who you were refering to. I can understand liking someone's persona but how can you call a Spaniard, Liverpool through and through? He just got very emotional in difficult circumstances. The warmth shown to him was just as likely to have been shown to him by those who wanted him sacked as much as by those who didn't. I also wondered how that lady could bracket Heysel as being similar to Hillsboro' or Ibrox. Surely the situations were very different. I'm sure you will tell me where I'm wrong.

You have watched the video and you didn't get it !

She is gone away for 3 months so she won't be on the pitch for a while.

hope the blues won't fire back to her as her generosity of handing the trophy to the loosers

is a grace. The trophy belongs to her I think she is a nice and good hearted girl.

She will not backfire to the forumitis becouse everyone seems to have a lot fun on this forum

and the West, and the North ,and the East, and She is away :(

Freedom and Happiness to everyone enjoy !

Got a feeling Liverpool will beat Arsenal this afternoon. Kenny has done a good job so far and I hope he gets offered it full time. Obviously the squad is a bit weak and suffer the occasional set back but with some strengthening and this return to the old Liverpool style of positive football, next season could be a good one.

After years of Beckham, Rooney and Ronaldo taunting opposition fans, football statesman Rio Ferdinand threw his toys out of the pram yesterday - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13108781.stm

As for Alex Ferguson commenting on Paul Scholes and Johnny Evans recent violent tackling (after the press conference tongue lashing he gave Jamie Carragher)... ermmmm... still silence

You must have missed this then..........Ferguson on Scholes

and this, Ferguson on Evans.

Ferdinand lot his rag. Big deal. At least he cares which is more than can be said for some footballers.

Are you just anti Manchester Utd or do you sometimes debate football matters?

I wonder will Kenny D be charged with anything by the FA for telling Wenger to piss off on live television? Surely it's open season now given what happened with Rooney. Somehow though I don't think there will be any outcry regarding protecting the kids from foul language with this one. Nor should there be. I'd love to know what Wenger said.

    • Hey Sue, I was wrong - I don't think it would just be for foreign tourists. So yeah I assume that, if someone lives in Lewisham and wants to say the night in southwark, they'd pay a levy.  The hotels wouldn't need to vet anyone's address or passports - the levy is automatically added on top of the bill by every hotel / BnB / hostel and passed on to Southwark. So basically, you're paying an extra two quid a night, or whatever, to stay in this borough.  It's a great way to drive footfall... to the other London boroughs.  https://www.ukpropertyaccountants.co.uk/uk-tourist-tax-exploring-the-rise-of-visitor-levies-and-foreign-property-charges/
    • Pretty much, Sue, yeah. It's the perennial, knotty problem of imposing a tax and balancing that with the cost of collecting it.  The famous one was the dog licence - I think it was 37 1/2 pence when it was abolished, but the revenue didn't' come close to covering the administration costs. As much I'd love to have a Stasi patrolling the South Bank, looking for mullet haircuts, unshaven armpits, overly expressive hand movements and red Kicker shoes, I'm afraid your modern Continental is almost indistinguishable from your modern Londoner. That's Schengen for you. So you couldn't justify it from an ROI point of view, really. This scheme seems a pretty good idea, overall. It's not perfect, but it's cheap to implement and takes some tax burden off Southwark residents.   'The Man' has got wise to this. It's got bad juju now. If you're looking to rinse medium to large amounts of small denomination notes, there are far better ways. Please drop me a direct message if you'd like to discuss this matter further.   Kind Regards  Dave
    • "What's worse is that the perceived 20 billion black hole has increased to 30 billion in a year. Is there a risk that after 5 years it could be as high as 70 billion ???" Why is it perceived, Reeves is responsible for doubling the "black hole" to £20b through the public sector pay increases. You can't live beyond your means and when you try you go bankrupt pdq. In 4 yrs time if this Govt survives that long and the country doesn't go bust before then, in 2029 I dread to think the state the country will be in.  At least Sunak and co had inflation back to 2% with unemployment being stable and not rising.
    • He seemed to me to be fully immersed in the Jeremy Corbyn ethos of the Labour Party. I dint think that (and self describing as a Marxist) would have helped much when Labour was changed under Starmer. There was a purge of people as far left as him that he was lucky to survive once in my opinion.   Stuff like this heavy endorsement of Momentum and Corbyn. It doesn't wash with a party that is in actual government.   https://labourlist.org/2020/04/forward-momentum-weve-launched-to-change-it-from-the-bottom-up/
