Too busy keeping an eye out your window for anyone who crosses the street at an undesignated location, i figure.

No, she (it's a she because she has put her real name on a post in a previous thread - click on her name and you can see the previous posts) means she has one of those yellow Co-Op cards which give you money back because you are a "member" of the Co-Op.

It's a bit like the divi was, back in the day.

Thousands and thousands of people own the Co-Op :)

This is fairly mind boggling then. I?m rather impressed the shopper managed to keep their temper. Or is it a wind up?

I do not, and although I have cropped greying hair I don't think even my best friends would describe me as fashionably dressed.

"Again, I was assertive but polite. I said ?Well, as a co-owner of this business, I?m not happy with it, it makes things very much more difficult for staff to detect and challenge theft. So please could you stop.?

The man continued putting items directly in his calico bag."

I would take this as very close to an accusation of shoplifting.

He obvioulsy thinks you are an absolute nutter, and decided to politley decline the controlling behaviour request.

I've got at least six calico bags from different places.

I wouldn't have thought to describe them as calico, though!

Now calico cats .....

I do this in the Coop and elsewhere including Sainsbury's - I am also a shareholder of the coop btw

Basically, it is alot easier to put your shopping in a shopping bag that you are carrying rather than carry an awkward basket around with you as well as the canvas bag. I asked the staff the first time I did it and they are fine with it. I don't find the baskets easy to carry when I also have my own canvas bag and possiblily another bag too. I wouldn't do it in a small shop but usually I'm just getting one or two items so it's not an issue. It's really none of your business how other shoppers choose to shop frankly.

Oh dear, I think I'm slightly on the side of the op. The generally accepted custom in shops is to use their basket or trolley until you have paid. I can't see how it is more difficult to carry a calico bag + basket as opposed to basket alone.

    • We're are just about to get ready for sale, a 2 bed flat, very close to Peckham Rye park.  It has been rented out for sometime, so is in need of some TLC for it to look its best, before it goes on the market.  Would be interested to know others thoughts on whether its best to just have the place painted completely white throughout, probably with new grey flooring, or if it might be more appealing to add some colour/interest (nothing too drastic), perhaps something alittle 'warmer', with some nice (potentially dark) feature walls maybe? Wondered whether the days of going completely white might now have passed ..... It might be useful to know that its not a period or conversion property, but rather a flat in a private purpose built block.
    • It's a Microsoft . pub file, and it does open OK, but that's a discontinued program which used to be part of the full Office suite. I've got an old machine with old software and it's still on that.  This is a .pdf version (I hope)April 2025 Dulwich Hill Newsletter.pdf
    • Even with Acrobat pro - it does not open even though it is an acrobat doc.   Error: "Adobe Acrobat could not open 'April 2025 Dulwich Hill Newsletter.pub' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded). To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then choose Save as Adobe PDF from the PDF dropdown in the Print dialog."
