Saucy open from today ...for good!

Recommended Posts

its great that after many years living locally, Micky Flanagan has finally chosen to register on the EDF....drawn out of anonymity to comment about Saucy, an issue he just couldn't stay silent on for a moment longer. And he's even used his real name as his handle.

Finally... someone posting something relevant to the topic....! Any place which sells Mac n? Cheese can?t be bad...!

I think it's a fair thing to give feedback whether it's good or bad, especially if things like price is a deciding factor as to whether you are going to give your custom to an establishment.

To say "If you don't like the prices etc dont comment" is just silly.

Following the google reviews, seems it's a mixed bag (a good thing if you ask me!). Some love it,some don't, some are yet to be swayed.

Hoping they continue grow and get more established in the area after all the hard work that's been put in to a difficult site.

We were looking forward to trying Saucy out, but having lingered a little too long over the Guinness in Franklins, arrived hungry just at 9pm on Saturday (I think it was) to find only a drinks menu outside and that they had closed the kitchen.

Fair enough, they explained it was because the chef had been working hard all day, but we were disappointed. They said they had done their best to publicise the 9pm close, but neither of us had seen anything anywhere?

We had another good meal at Monkatsu, though, so all was not lost :)

Looking forward to trying Saucy out at some future point, ensuring we arrive earlier in the evening this time!

Went a couple of weeks ago. Much as I wish them well, I was a little bit 'meh'....might go back, but wouldn't rush...

Positives:

Soft Serve bar - kids loved it

The bearded manager

The mac-cheese

The space/feel of the restaurant

Less than positives:

We tried their 'signature' chip dish which apparently successfully sold by their chip truck at festivals. Perhaps the concept doesn't translate well for restaurants with larger menus where more pre-prep is required. As I dont really see the point in triple cooking chips, only to have them sitting in a pre-prepared metal dish swimming in gravy and covered in cheese for what was clearly ages, waiting to be warmed up - the soggyness/stodgyness of the chips defeats the purpose of the triple cook in the first place. Perhaps it works if served from the truck and they ladle gravy and then grill cheese as they serve you - so the chips are still crispy and feel fresh. But this felt more like a cheese topped beef pie, with very soggy/stodgy chips instead of soggy pastry. Perhaps this is what they're supposed to be like (and on a hangover at a festival, it might be right on the money), or perhaps they need to adjust the process to not pre-prepare this dish?

Rest of the food was fine.

I wanted to give my honest review as I didn't have the burgers, but instead ate the Brit Dog and had chips with gravy and cheese.

I have to say it rates as one of the top dogs I've had. Really fresh and tasty, good bun and nice sausage (see pic). The cheesy, gravy chips may not be to everyone's taste (obviously most people prefer plain chips) but I polished them off easily - think they'd be good after a hangover! The soft serve ice cream was really lovely too.

I hope it does well. :)

    • Nothing to do with the tories overspending whatsoever eh! Blame the last 10/11 years of blatant mismanagement, incompetence and willful deceit on the poor bastards that were left with the fall out of a complete car crash tory government.   One PM after another falling on their sword. Open corruption and piss taking throughout covid and a legacy of huge debt and destruction yet in your view it will be labour's 4 years in power that bankrupts us in 2029.  Another one that must think people are blind and stupid.  Rejoice rejoice. It's a pity he and his fellow clowns were completely annihilated at the ballot box. I mean they were doing so well after all 🙃🙃
    • Where did I say he did a good job? Yup and Corbyn was very close to Len McCluskey and funded by Unite wasn't he...they're all as bad as each other... Labour have to purge their party of the far-left - they're a disaster. Allan Johnson summed it up so well on election night in 2019....
    • Thank you for the detailed advise @trinidad It is definitely damage we are concerned about. I don’t think Evri would agree to pay the bill to fix our gate or letter box if they were to be damaged as a result of their delivery drivers helper. Our doorbell can be heard from outside when rung so we don’t quite believe the aggressive simultaneous door/letter box banging is necessary. It can be quite a shock it is done very aggressively.  I’ll definitely action the steps you’ve kindly provided along with a phone call tomorrow. I do sympathise with the role drivers have and how busy they are, which is why we tried communicating directly with her but sadly we haven’t succeeded
    • What outcome would you like? Disciplinary action? Not to have the driver back? Retraining? I know there is alot of pressure on drivers to deliver within a set day. if he slams the gate, is it evidence he is causing damage, or is the noise a irritant to yourself? You could put a sign up or buy a signing asking to close the gate gentle???? can you hear the door bell from the door? he might be ringing, not hearing and therefore knocking. In trhe notes section of the be livery page, there is a note section, although there is not 100 per cent these notes would be read as these drivers are constantly rushing.  I did a google search for you, i found this and you can try the envri website Contact Us | Evri   To complain to Evri, you can follow these steps: Contact Customer Service: Call Evri's customer service at 0330 808 5456 for assistance with your complaint.    1 Write a Letter: Address your complaint to Capitol House, 1 Capitol Close, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS27 0WH.    1 Use the Official Website: Visit the Evri complaints page on their official website for detailed instructions on how to submit a complaint.    2 Email or Call for Specific Issues: For issues like missing or damaged parcels, you can email or call 0800 988 8888, which is free to call.    1 These methods will help you effectively communicate your concerns to Evri.   My driver is called anthony, he is brilliant to be honest. I cant fault him.
