Well, there is the ED Swimming Baths on East Dulwich Road - by Goose Green. They do adult repetition lengths that, as memory serves, starts at 8.30pm.

It is a Victorian pool and is somewhat dog eared, but i use it and dont have a problem with it.

I would pop in and have a look - they let me have a look around. You can either pay per swim or join as a member. I pay ?40 per month for the gym and pool. The pool is a community pool so has lots of different users in times slots and they police this strictly. If you look at the Fusion website you can download the timetable.

I used to swim at Crystal Palace; nice 50 meter pool. I haven't been in ages, is it still open?

I've tried the East Dulwich Baths but the pool is too short (less then the standard 25 meters) and if it gets crowded you can't get a proper work out.

And don't get me started on trying to swim around the slow people in the fast lane, uggggg!

Give Tooting Lido a go. 90m of unheated pool to really get the heart racing. Admittedly I wear a wetsuit....

From what I've heard it is meant to be closing completely some time in the Spring for 6-10 months - if anyone is interested there are lots of plans in the foyer. I am a bit worried that it might be a lot longer - apparently a pool in Hackney has just opened - it was planned to open for the Millenium!

JAGS pool most excellent - it is filled with children and families during sat and sunday days...evenings are great for adults. Anyone can join, but, there is usually a waiting list for membership as it is v. popular...The fees include use of gym, classes, tennis, etc. There is a discound available if you have a child at JAGs but it is marginal.

    • Hello I am developing an interest in birds, and am enjoying listening to their singing especially in the morning and when I'm out and about.  I have bought a book about British birds, very detailed with info on each species.  I have managed to identify a couple of birds I've seen or heard around this area, but my starting knowledge of what birds exist here is very limited.  Is anyone knowledgeable able to cite some birds that exist around East Dulwich that I may be able to look up in my book and thereafter try to spot / listen out for?  Thanks!
    • Hi everyone, I am a local tutor that has worked in an independent school for many years and have been responsible for the 4+ and 7+ assessments - so I know how they work from the inside! The 4+ assessments are especially competitive and the most unknown of all the school entrance assessments. I can help support your application by offering tutoring or a one off practise assessment to help identify what your child needs to work on.  I am happy to answer any questions you have about the assessments or anything specific about how your child will perform on the day. I am familiar with the expectations for Alleyn's, JAGs and St Dunstan's as well as the central London schools like Westminster and City.  I have helped many parents go through the process with their child - including my own son!  Send me a message to find out more!
    • Unfortunately, lovely as it is, it wouldn't be a suitable venue for the forum drinks. Not enough space for people to mingle and get to know each other,  and it would get in the way of other customers. Upstairs at the EDT has  comfy seating,   lots of space and is quiet on a Wednesday night, so we will stay there, if the managers let us! The next drinks aren't arranged yet, but will be in September. We had a break in August as so many people are away.

He carefully reset the pathway stones, applied new grout, and sealed them, leaving the surfaces looking as good as new. We had assumed we would need to replace the front step entirely, as our neighbour did, but Rod’s skill and attention to detail have restored it beautifully. I cannot recommend Rod highly enough. He is reliable, punctual, and carries out his work with great care and professionalism. It is clear that he takes real pride in delivering high-quality results.
