Where did you go on your honeymoon...........?

Recommended Posts

We went to Vietnam too. We got married in April and went to Hong Kong for a couple of days then to Hanoi and travelled down the coast visiting Halong Bag (did a cruise) Hoi An and finishing up with some relaxy/beach luxury here: http://www.sixsenses.com/sixsensesninhvanbay. Food is fantastic and cheap! Weather was great too (except in Hong Kong - it tipped it down there!).

Maldives for two weeks... Very idyllic! That was 13 years ago, divorced now!

My fianc? and I went to Fiji as a Pre baby holiday, that was amazing, pain to get to but really recommend! We did a few days on the mainland and then went out to the islands - bliss! Will def go again!

Very similar except only went for 10 days - one of the most beautiful places I have ever been and would highly recommend.

We did similar - hubbie organised so no clear idea on cost, but know a uk based independent safari travel company (?Aardvark) came up with the itinerary based on our wants/budget. We were away for 15 nights.

We went late spring, and started with a few days in Zambia just up the Zambezi from Victoria Falls, then went into Botswana which I agree is the most amazing and friendly place - we did a camp which was close to the Chobe and had been recommended as a "dry" camp although the channel the camp was on had flooded so we had hippos under our room! We then a few days in a camp on the Okavango River - fell asleep to the sound of thousands of bell frogs (size of your thumbnail) who literally sounded like a chorus of tiny bells - gorgeous which helped detract from the twin beds pushed together but with twin mozzie nets!

Rather than Zanzibar, we went on to Marlin lodge which is just off the coast of Mozambique - perfect contrast to the early starts of the safari camps and beautiful paradise like beaches, plus lots done by the lodge to support the local community - left lots of our clothes over there to donate to them.

We knew we wanted to start a family fairly soon after marrying and so this was the perfect once-in-a-lifetime break before we commited to family friendly/uk based hols :)

Malta (1991) - we'd already been there a couple of times together and loved it.

Went back for our 10th wedding anniversary and loved it.

Went back last year (with 3 teenagers) and we had a great time but didn't seem the same.

Malta has become very commercialised (think that's the word).

Tanzania and Zanzibar. A few days on the coast south of Dar where there was nothing to do except do nothing, then the most amazing 4 days on safari in the Selous National Park and finally a few days in Zanzibar with the last night in Stone Town.

I wouldn't bother with Zanzibar again, but I'd love to go back to Tanzania. Adored it.

Flew to Vegas, drove convertible through death valley to San Francisco then hired Harley to visit big sur and ride the west coast down to LA.

Booked my sisters honeymoon also. Flew to Miami for a few nights then on to harbour island in Eleuthera. Harbour island is home to the worlds only pink sand beach with wild ponies roaming free. No cars on the island, just golf carts.

WOW!

Only just checled back at the post, lots of ideas.

We have a budget of around ?2,000-?2,500, going for just 7 days as we dont want to leave our then 2.5 year old any longer, and we are getting married in April 2013 - I want a hot (in temperature!) honeymoon - so we are thinking maybe somewhere along the indian ocean...

    • Re Day One, £52 for a short hair cut (cut & styling) and £72 for a long hair cut (cut & styling) which I believe is below the ears.  £38 for a blow dry which doesn’t appear to be included in the cut price as it’s not mentioned.  £15 for a fringe tidy.      I remember being startled to be charged separately for a blow dry by the salon that used to be in Melbourne Grove but is now closed down.  I was asked if I wanted a blow dry after the cut and highlights and said yes, but wasn’t told that I would be charged separately.  Only found out when I went to pay the bill.    Was offered a voucher on a further appointment.    De.Salon which used to be Cut-Throat in Peckham (Choumert Rd and Brixton) charge from £45 for a Short haircut that finishes by the ears.  They charge from £40 for any haircut that finishes below the jawline.  Their prices include a blow dry.  But if you have thick hair they charge an extra £15 for every additional 15 minutes for cutting.     I had my hair cut there before the name change.  I don’t understand the from part of the price. Had a look at the Blue Tit pricing which is very complicated. They charge depending on the stylist’s  experience.  Crab Salad in Peckham  -  short hair cut above the ear - from £69.    Long hair Cut below the ear from £80. Blow dry not mentioned as being included in the cut but is priced at £55 I noticed that Kuki charge different prices for men and women.  Doesn’t seem right if a woman has short hair and a man has long hair.   I used to go to a great salon in NW London  that charged the same price for men and women and stopped going when they upped their prices for women.

    • I have been training at the hub for just over one year. I really enjoy the variety of training offered and the quality of the instructors. Very effective group classes and enjoyable in the open air! A very welcoming place which makes a fitmess journey pleasant!
