Ive lived in Dulwich fo 16 years now, admitidly ive kept a low profile, and I cant beleive what im hearing. Its ridonkulous, surley there is more to life than the shenanagins that gets talked about on this forum, dont get me wrong, I love a bit of gossip but its a bit like stepford round here, fishwife central more like, its hilarious. I know some of you are very bright, I know some of you are highly educated, and its a deadcert that some of you haunt the coridors of power, however I have never in my life experienced anything like this place. Im not being confrontational in anyway, please forgive my direct language, its just I feel your energies could be directed into a much more bennifical and productive pastime. If you organized you could end up running the country.
Mikecg, it's entirely my fault. I wasn't trying to be confrontational, I didn't know about the existence of the West Dulwich Forum until today, but I didn't think I'd come across a thread like that. I'm relatively new to Dulwich, and I love the fact that forums like this are there, so any newcomers can get to know people. Regardless of whether they're east/west/south or north.
No disrespect, Im quite new to this forum, and I did not anounce my arrival, and you dont have to listen to my ramblings its just there is a them and us kind of mentality on many different fronts, from how close you live to peckham to who owns what, well almost. Well I am a bloke.

maybe they meant 'abceses' but then they would be an 's' short wouldn't they???

What a hi-bl**dy-larious post

"its just I feel your energies could be directed into a much more bennifical and productive pastime. If you organized you could end up running the country"

This is a form of stress relief. We do actually run the country in our day jobs.

There is nothing more productive than talking b@llocks. We do it well.

I hate I hate I hate ...

Peter Pan

But no.. I also hate any accusations of a "them and us" - it suggests a homogenous "us" or "them" which a reading of anythread makes clear doesn't exist - the forum is often accused of arguing about anything it possibly can.. arguing can't exist without differing opinions so how can it be "us and them"

Plus... mikecg has assimilated quite seamlessly into the forum - ach I just don't get it. There are SOME people who don't like.. say... peckham. This does not mean the EAST DULWICH FORUM doesn't like Peckham and ANYONE WHO DISAGREES is wrong. I love Peckham... so there. Some others on here don't. What are ya gonna do huh?

It isn't one of the more eloquent posts on here is it?

So be it. I often struggle with this particular point anyway. I remember quids mentioning the stepford word before and giving him a right old ear-bashing. He took it well

Thing is Sean,

It's a perception, that's all it is, of some of the types of people. not everybody is like that here I know that, one of my first experiences here was a conversation with DM, not that thats a bad thing, However after my encounter I found that I am not alone in my opinion of the type of person she is, Harmless really I suppose, it's all a bit of an act, an alter ego perhaps. You cant take it too seriousley. There are others around, but that's what makes a place like this great don't ya think's.

    • Greg came out at last minute notice to address a leak at the flat. He stayed for 90 mins to try and fix it but turned out it was a communal pipe. He was quick to write a report so we could get Southwark onto it. Great plumber, would recommend highly.
    • My daughter, a single parent, has been let down by her children's' father, who was supposed to have them for part of the school holidays, So we are helping out. Our grand daughter aged 11 is no problem, but 9year old is more difficult to please. Has an interest in computers and coding, does not like crowds (neurodiverse)  Is keen n how things work and enjoys taking things apart. He is already going to the transport museum and has been to the science museum  Husband and I have some mobility problems so nothing too strenuous. have done Horniman's a number of times.  Is there any local holiday schemes where we can enrol him in for 2/3 days. There seems to be a number relating to singing/dancing and drama but nothing science/maths based. He does not have an interest in sport at the moment. Grand children live in Sussex and will be attending Holiday Clubs for a couple of weeks
    • When I had a dead fox in my garden the council told me to put it in my wheelie bin, the green one.  I warned the dust bin men when they came that it was in there. They said they get worse than foxes put it!  Dead bodies!?  In the heat it might be better to bag it up first. Pam
