I love a bit of Jones. She is an attention whore (well, probably like most media celebs TBH) and must be hell to live/work with but she makes me laugh with her outspokenness.

Although I accept that we all have our political leanings, I tend to steer clear of people who froth, rabidly at the mouth at the mention of any particular mainstream newspaper - polarised and entrenched views don't normally allow for balanced and informed conversations.

Couldn't have put it better myself

the DM are not stupid - they know that the under 45s would not be seen dead with a hard copy of their rag, but have tailored their site to appeal to the younger set - and IIRC, it has overtaken the New York Times in the online readership league now. The online version is heavy on paparazzi type gossip, the hard copy less so. Reading the online version is an entry point for the interweb generation & the brain dead grazers - before they know it, they are calling for abu whatever to be executed by hanging in trafalgar square, dole cheats to be castrated and massed bleating about leylaandi hedges. Dont do the Mail in any form - you will crave more and more

    • The frequency of fireworks seems to be increasing. If revellers selected the low noise variety that would help, but the trend seems to be the louder the better. I do not think sensitivity to stimuli is the same as timidity. Unexpected, extremely loud bangs and unusual noises will startle most of us. Humans, unlike other animals, have the luxury of knowing what fireworks are and what the noise represents. Some animals do learn to cope but many do not. It could be their hearing is not as sensitive. We should not forget that many animals, including cats and dogs have hearing that is much more developed than ours.
