But surely this could go where the current Foxtons is - after the downsizing to smaller premises and having to share minis?

It must be a great relief to Marie Blanche, the charming lady who lives there, that her misfortune of having her window kicked in late at night when she was upstairs alone can give you all such a good excuse for humour.

I take your point too, but any local who has been here for longer than the last six months of the last 30 odd years would have been able to read her name from the shop front - whether that is her real name I know not

One person made a joke about the window being broken, no one has used the fact that she was upstairs alone late at night as an excuse for humour. Just because you know the (unfortunate) facts doesn't mean everybody else does, people round here are generally quite nice and decent and wouldn't wish bad things upon the lady you mentioned.

Oh dear, I feel a bit bad now for starting a rumour it was a knocking shop! It's a shame she doesn't do something with downstairs as it's pretty grotty. I've lived in ED for 12 years and watched it crumble.

She might be "sweet" and all that, but frankly I'd struggle to "bless" anybody who keeps a high street space empty and in a delapidated condition, whatever their history.
