According to a friend of mine who works in the Southwark planning department, a "fastfood chain restaurant" are in dialogue about opening up somewhere on LL! If the golden arches are coming then Im afraid im out of here when my lease runs out.

Well since both the Upper Norwood & Forest Hill branches closed I'd not have thought LL was fertile territory for McD....nor which currently empty site would be big enough for them.

I worked for M&S for years on the store expansion programme amongst other things. They never had any intention of moving into SE22 - even as a Simply Food or BP Simply Food. There's no shortage of posts on here about that.

Take your pick from McD's, BK, Nando's, Subway or KFC. Nando's looks like the only possible fit, even though the food there is disgusting, especially the soggy chips.

Nando?s would be great! I love ?em. And they?re hardly the corporate monster that McDs and the like are. They were started by a couple of guys from round my way who had their first restaurant in my home town about 15 years ago.

Definitely better than GBK if I had to choose.

A friend of mine lives two streets away from a Nandos in Upper Street, but in a direct "line of sight" to their ventilation shafts. The smell of fried chicken and burning oil is unbelievably bad. I was amazed to be honest. I quite like their food, but haven't eaten there since.

Although pretty similar to living in, say, North Cross Road, Matham Road and Zenoria Street in the sense that there are quiet residential streets off a main, bustling thoroughfare filled with bars and restaurants.

I don?t really mind them to be honest. I just prefer Nandos. Grazing down a whole peri-peri chicken after a few beers is way better than a cheese burger. No matter how blue it is.
