You're all exaggerating in a ridiculous nimbyish EDF way.

Or so I thought till I went in today to see what all the fuss was about. Good grief - gaudy tat only begins to cover it; actually worse than the website. Wonder what will move in there in six months? (Mind you, what do I know: I didn't think the shoe shop in North Cross Road would survive either. Though I think that one's more of a yummy mummy hobby business really - something to do while Jemima's at nursery.)

OHMYGOD!

I popped into this shop today, and it looks like the kind of place where Barbara Windsor and Joan Collins purchased footwear. It is very Walworth Road mid 1980's. I am sure that the staff are lovely, but what were they thinking, opening on Lordship Lane in this decade? I feel traumatised for the poor investors. I need to lie down.

Davina Shoes. Hmmmmm... Shiny Patent Buckled bad taste. Did Davina do ANY market research I wonder. Maybe she did? There are plenty of hairdressers and estate agents on LL who are all known for their impeccably bad dressing. Ill fitting suits (there's her next shop perhaps?) Over 'done' hairdresser hair. A penchant for pink. Visible muffin tops (thats the usually rather flabby mid-riff above trouser top and below tummy button...) and the high high shiny shiny shoes with big shiny buckles . It is a great shame that the shop is at the head of North X Road , very visible and very um... pink. Alas, 'taste' is an individual thing and everyone is of course entitled to regard their own very little world of taste the best. However, having said that, I DECLARE DAVINA AINT GOT NONE.

not just hookers.

they have lelli kellis in the window, which any girl between 5 and 10 will tell you are sparkly impractical pointless objects of desire for children, with their own tv ad campaign, Davina's got them in the window, so maybe she ain't no fool after all? I will of course be distracting my female offspring with organic fruit as we stroll past that shop.

the thing that does confuse me is the name. Davina Boutique, like boutique is her surname, good surname if you want to sell clothes/shoes. Or like she is a small personalised fashionable version of herself. mmmmmm

I am wondering if anyone has bought anything in said shop.

Furthermore, it would be interesting to hear from the proprietor or manager of this shop to hear why they felt this area needed a shop like that. It is in such a prime - as far as East Dulwich is concerned - location too! I have only peered through the window in a flabbergasted and rather aghast state. I think I may pop in and potter around next time.

    • It happened again tonight. This time a group of kids ( I hate saying that, because it makes them sound less intimidating than they are), threatened to throw a water bomb at me. When I dared them, they started lobbing them. Then they started saying they were going to kill my dog and one of them jumped over the fence of the Japanese Garden and took a running kick at my dog, who got out of the way. He jumped back over the fence, then came back, came within a meter of me and threw a water bomb really hard at me.  I can't be sure it was exactly the same crowd as last time, though I suspect the male ring leader could be.  The police came and were amazing - as was the park warden - and are fairly confident of the identity of one of them and think they may have tried to arrest him before.  There were maybe as many as 15 of them, aged 16-18, all Caucasian, girls and boys (girls being just as aggressive as the boys). The ring leader is a slight man, dark hair / eyes, possibly with facial hair about 5'6", petite, wearing an all-blue tracksuit.  So please be careful when you're in the park around 6.30 / 7pm. The local SNT have been informed.
