It is not so much the advertisements that make me want to dispose of the TV. Has anyone else seen the episode of Doc Martin where Aunty Joan has a "love in" on the stripped pine kitchen table? OHMYGOD!!!

I can still see her carpet slippers and swollen feet swaying backwards and forwards...

I need to lie down.

The volume on all adds is sooooo much louder than any programme one's watching, more so if it is a 'white bearded' black and white movie.

The solicitor adds, of awkward ungainly dumplings, slipping on a wet marble floor in 4 inch stilletto's...........how impractical to wear such footwear. The term 'just deserts' springs to mind but the encouragement of people not taking responsibility for their actions and/or decisions arouses my impatience and anger.

There should be legislation to prevent us moving toward the Americanization of the British way of life.

Stick around for the ad on Channel 4 for the Kubrick season of films ending with The Shining. The advert for it starts airing 1st July. It is astounding. I was involved in it. 90 second one take thingy.

Not the sort of ads you're talking about though.

The ones for Parazone wrapped round The Bill are so naff. Yes, I do sometimes watch The Bill.

Oh, yes. I'm with you on that one D_C.

Most cosmetic ads are awful and full of bad science, but surely the worst is Pierce Brosnan for L'Oriel. Cantering along the beach and talking about the environment, whilst looking after his skin, because, well, he's worth it.

One that I quite like though is the one for the new bubbling device in cans of Kronenberg, where all the little chefs (inside the can of course) cut the bubbles up into smaller and smaller bubbles...

It's OK James, you've made a clean breast of it, and that's the main thing.

If you ever find yourself strapped to a sofa first thing in the morning it has to be the alternating Litigation/Loan adcycle(usually during the Jeremy Kyle adbreak). Sue someone or consolidate all those little debts into one great f**k-off debt. Either way your either f**king yourself or your f**king someone else. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside doesnt it....

Oh, and the other really annoying ads are the ones where inanimate things are humanised, presumably in order to convey their message more clearly to us dumb bunnies. Firemen in your stomach-settler, TicTacs that run down the street, talking germs in the lavatory... it's just weird and a bit creepy.

Except for the car/robot one, as Honaloochie B says, which is cooooooooooooool.

Buggie - moonpig?? You DO need to elaborate!

    • I think Watsons General Telegraph do two margaritas  for £13 every Thursday. The Great Exhibition also does a margarita deal on a Thursday: https://www.greatexhibition.pub/new-events-1 I've not tried either deal yet.
    • We first used Aaron's services for a badly damaged wall that had gone back to the brickwork due to water ingress from the bay window. We found Aaron initially through recommendation and were very fortunate to do so as we already had a couple of quotes from trades found online that were just ridiculous, clearly just a rip off, so not sure what we would of done without that recommendation. We have just had more work completed by him, two walls skimmed and more comprehensive work where the brickwork was exposed around the fireplace. The wall above the fireplace was the original plaster finish and in good condition but the original plan was to have the whole wall replastered but we couldnt get the tv off the wall bracket so asked Aaron if he could just plaster up to the tv, not ideal but not much choice. Aaron didnt have any issue with that atall and more than happy to do it. Amazingly the join between the new plaster and old plaster is invisible. Perfect feather edge finish.  Aaron is very pleasant natured, he turns up on time, he doesnt mess about and gets on with the job. He works in a very clean manner. He doesnt try and inflate the job to make it more expensive. We found him to be extremely competitively priced. Both jobs have been finished to an excellent standard. The finish is so smooth its like glass. We will certainly be using his services again in the future.     Aaron Manser 07773 410661
    • Yes, and now there's a leak further down Barry Road. Two men from Thames came and stood there looking at it and then went away. Over 24 hours later water still pouring out and no sign of any action to repair
