It's really sad that Roche has gone but went to heavenly hair and nails today and can highly recommend them. The lady in charge was very friendly did a great job with my hair and was fab with the kids. It's a bit further along from barsolona towards the tile place opposite what was the grove pub. ?25 for ladies wash cut and blowdry and ?10 each for the children. Worth governing them a try as I was really impressed.

Is that definite or supposition?Be sad if it goes - try to support them rather than Sainsburys when I'm up there. They have a wide range of goods in there and have always been really friendly.

The shop is moving to where the other Convenience shop was, in the corner of Landells next to the Funeral Home.

Quite a bit smaller space for them but I am glad they are sticking around they are nice people.

Not sure what's happening with the post office though.

In the days when the PO grocer was called Mike O Deal, the PO was across the road in the shop which I think is now the butchers. When 'Mike' sold the PO shop, he moved it across the road where it is now.

I suppose the reason for moving the grocer part to the former Dulwich Grocers premises is that sales are down thanks to Sainsburys Local and can only stay viable in smaller premises. Hopefully the fruit and veg stall is moving across with him too?

I heard that the Post Office owns the property where Gastronomia was and the corner shop (now being done up) next to Le Moulin and the grocer's next to Sainsbury's which has a small branch in it. Perhaps it is cashing in on its assets.
Hubby asked at the above Post Office yesterday if they were closing and was informed that as long as they have sufficient customers for the PO they will remain open. So it is a question of using your local sub post office or lose it.

My guess is with the grocer leaving, the rest of the premises will be sub-let to another business with the PO continuing at the back of the store.

If anyone remembers the old sub PO on LL opposite the Grove, it shared with a chemist I think and when that closed, it didn't last much longer, despite a cab firm moving in.

Yes, I remember the furniture being straight out of the 1970s. Incidentally if you visit Sadlers Pharmacy opposite the library, this also has a similar issue with 80s style shelving and doesn't look like it's had any work done to it since then.

    • Anyone can deliver for Evri - my daughter having just passed her driving test tried Evri to make some money - they basically give you a route and as many parcels as they think you can cope with - you make money for each one you deliver, so you can imagine - speed is the priority. Why would they wait for you to answer the door when they can just throw it and take a photo? If you have a choice, choose a different courier service or shop elsewhere where they do.
    • Boil - it’s the customer’s fault, not the delivery person’s.
    • A bit of a long shot but I'm on the lookout for a portable pop-up counter or podium.   The kind you often see on a high street, used by charities or utility companies to advertise their wares.   I've included a photo to give you the idea. I'm a peckham-based artist and am looking for one for a free (and non-profit) community art project.  It can be in any workable condition and can already have signage on it as we will remove and redecorate ourselves.    Thanks in advance, Linzie
    • No I absolutely did not - that much is clear. Have you read the latest stories about Unite, Len and the hotel in Birmingham? The UK electorate were smart enough to reject a far-left party in 2019, let's hope they are smart enough to reject a far-right party at the next election too. If not we are all doomed.
