Fish and chips in ED

We have an overseas guest who want some proper British fish and chips for dinner. Can anyone recommend somewhere in ED that got good fish and chips take away or eat in, pub or fish bar that's kid friendly.

I'm not a fan of the sea cow .....

Not ED but something fishy in Lewisham is traditional and very good

Fish Chips and More in East Dulwich Road ,there is also a seating area at the back .

Would second Broadbean's suggestion of "Fish Chips and More". Also the Dulwich Fryer by the station used to be excellent, but I haven't tried it since it changed owner.

The Sea Master is good too. It's opposite Peckham Rye park on Forrest Hill Road. It has lots of seats and the staff are very friendly :)

Yep - 3rd for Fish Chips and More. Always enjoy my supper from there. Very amenable as well. Let me talk them into battering and deep frying a hamburger not so long ago. They reckoned it couldn?t/shouldn?t be done. Was gallas.

Just the burger. Dunked it in the batter then stuck it in the deep fat fryer. Had it with chips in the restaurant. They added salad which i couldnt work out if that came as standard with their burgers or whether they were being ironic.

Next time get them to make you a burger (complete with cheese, salad, sauce and bun), stick a couple of cocktail sticks through it, and batter and fry the whole thing.

Sounds a trifle unhealthy. Heres a photo of my battered and deep fried burger from last year. Chaps at Fish Chips and More came up trumps...

In that range and I practically had to cook the fecker myself. Load of salt and a splash of vinegar. Brilliant dinner.

You'd be right at home in NZ, HMB - that's a standard menu item in a NZ chippie, known as a meat pattie. Delicious. Also worth a try is a chop suey pattie, ditto paua pattie. The rule of thumb is that if you put batter on it, it's a pattie, anything is fair game.

I miss the menu of a Scottish Chippie, and it sounds like NZ has a similar set up. Mr P will be familiar with L'Alba D'oro no doubt. King Rib Supper, salt and sauce...

Ken's in Herne Hill does the best chips.

Would also recommend Ken's fish bar for good take-away. For a restaurant/eat in place could try "Olleys" in Norwood Rd opps Brockwell Park. Still in the Herne Hill area and has got some accolade/s for London fish'n Chips listings.
