Nope, making plans for the morning after the drinks was not a wise move on my part!

I didn't realise how late it got last night - one minute it seemed to be a short while after 11.... next thing I knew when I got home it was well gone 2. I thought it was more like 12 something or maybe pushing 1.

Really odd thing is I seem to have reset my facebook status at 5 something.... I knew I didn't go to bed straight away when I got in, but I wasn't aware of being downstairs on line for more than a few minutes. Did I fall asleep sitting up then wake up again and go to bed without realising it??? Not good.

Anyway, hangover aside, a great night, nice to meet lots of new people and catch up with ones from previous drinks.

That was a good night, I'm amazed by the turn out, looks like the board must be popular. I was more surprised by the number of people that told me they'd only come along to meet me, I didn't realise I'd created such interest.

The people were much as I expected, a complete cross section. Some very friendly that I'd like to see again, some normal people and one utter cunt who just stood and laughed at me - very polite.

Really enjoyed last night, bar very busy at first, but thankfully got easier to get served as the night wore on. Nice to meet indiepanda, and finally work out which one is Strawbs and which is Jaws (happy birthday by the way).

Was gutted to have missed ????, but nice to see all the usual crowd, and had a good giggle with the lovely Tillie and Anna.

Moos, it was very nice to see you, and I hope your raher nasty sounding cough has gone away. I'm sure my slapping of your back will have sorted it! :)-D

Up posting at 8?!

I also am a little unsure how it went from "nice that they don't close too early" to "it's 1.30, lets walk home". Yet to officially decide if feet hurt more than head...

Great to see everyone and meet some new people, although I went from quietly not saying much to pissed and saying too much without going through the traditional 'easy company' stage in the middle.

indiepanda, Gen17, miles, kels, lovely to have met you.

old faces, lovely to have seen you all. Happy birfday jaws.

See you all next time ;-)

Ouch .. my head hurts

This

My doctor was so insistent that I had too much to drink last night so firstly apologies to anyone I slurred over. But apart from the usual M&B queues at the bar I thought it was a top venue.

God my head hurts

Some people turned up I hadn't seen for ages and was great to meet again. I met a few first-timers at the beginning of the evening but lost track thereafter - hope they had a good evening.

Quids surprise arrival was a proper moment. And apart from the good old natter I had with him everyone else he spoke to was also smitten. He does care you know ;-)

Dear God my head hurts

I couldn't have been THAT bad because having arrived home with a) a bottle of Laphroig in hand and b) Carnelli in tow, I was insistent that we didn't break it open. So I must have had a residual sense of propriety

Right, off to have some cure - same time tonight everyone?

I have discovered that commencing boozing at 5, drinking copious amounts of JD, followed by Hoegaarden, followed by cider, followed by more JD then more cider ain't a great idea when you have spend 2 hours on a train the next day. :-S

Nice to see everyone and meet the first timers.

However, I now have "the fear".

Nothing to fear Annasfield, you were charming as always (especially to ????...)

Sean, I only suggested (when you sent my glass of red wine up in the air, down tillie's back and crashing to the floor) that you might be a little tipsier than usual...

I had a lovely time last night. The hightlight, obviously, was meeting ????, but great to meet new faces (don't ask me to list names. They've gone) and catch-up for a gossip with the regulars (although suggesting that Moos, Bellenden Belle and I were cackling like witches in the corner was being a little unkind (Carnell)) and I'm very glad I managed to wangle my way out of working last night to be there.

Right, now, better get on with organising that sabre duel (in custard. Wearing nappies!?) on Peckham Rye between Carnell and BN5 that the artist formerly know as Chav was so keen on....

I had a great night! Thank you all for making me so welcome. :) What a great bunch of people. I will definitley be coming again.

I can safely say to all other first-timers flying solo that it is well worth ignoring your nerves and coming along.

So what normally happens with the photos? Do they get added to this thread???

Awesome night. Made really good by all the new people who came along and were surprised to find it not the cliquey, awful bunch of internet geeks they had feared.

Where else can you meet an actress, an actuary, a builder, a pensioner, a student, straight people, gay people, an off duty police officer, the great Mr & mrs Bob and a bloke called Miles. All in one night. And all united as one.

By the commuity that is....EAST DULWICH!

Outoffocus normally adds the pictures to the thread, Gen. How quickly depends on how busy he is, sometimes terrifyingly fast, so you're still handling the hangover when you have to deal with the reality of how you really looked compared with how you thought you looked (speaking for myself there you understand, not implying you looked anything but fabulous) and sometimes after a few days.

If there are any you're not keen on you just PM him and he's happy to make them disappear.

Oh god, is it light already?

Tip top night. Lovely to meet everyone, most particularly all those who said 'sod it' and came along regardless, I hope you enjoyed.

Great to see everyone as ever and I hope I didn't slur too much at you, and god Miles I hope that wasn't me, sorry if I did though I can't imagine why I would, you seemed a top chap.

Oh and Gen, sorry that both me and missus Mockney badgered you about your dopplegangerness!! (the one on the left)

What ever happened to Badger btw?

Always the way matthew, I think it's best just to chat to a few people, and hopefully meet more at the next one. If you try and get round to meet everyone, you'll have no chance, and won't actually get the time to talk to anyone properly.

It's why people never really enjoy their own parties, cos they're so busy trying to make sure everyone is okay.

Nice to meet you by the way.

    • Would anyone have ends of balls of wool, any colour, to mend an old blanket? Any colour? With thanks Mila
    • I’m not a Gail’s fan but there’s no reason a business shouldn’t open on Christmas Day. However, nobody should be compelled to work the day which, given the widespread coverage of Gail’s questionable employment practices, has to be a possibility here.  The only business I ever use on the 25th is maybe a pub and that’s a rarity these days but buses running would be very welcome for visiting etc. But the swings in the park should definitely remain chained up. Are parks even open on Christmas Day?
    • To be honest, pal, it's not good being a fan of a local business and then not go there. One on hand, the barber shop literally next door to Romeo Jones started serving coffee. The Crown and Greyhound and Rocca serve coffee. Redemption Coffee opened up not far away, and then also Megan's next door to that. DVillage was serving coffee (but wasn't very popular), as was Au Ciel (which is). Maybe also Heritage Cheese, I don't know. There's also Flotsam and Jetsam doing coffee and sandwiches at Dulwich Picture Gallery in the other direction. The whole of Dulwich Village serves coffee. And yet on the other hand, there are enough punters to support all good coffee shops. With the exception of Rocca and Megan's (which are both big spaces) and C&G (which does coffee like everything else - slow and with bad service), all these places regularly get queues out the door. Gail's often has big queues and yet very few people crossed the street to Romeo Jones (which was much better)... Half the staff at Gail's are perfectly fine and efficient. The other half are pretty offhand and rude. It's certainly not welcoming or friendly service. But they're certainly hard working, and no doubt raking the money in for Luke Johnson...
    • Well according to a newspaper article, Gail’s is opening 10 shops in London,,, yup Dulwich is named 10/5 I seem to recall with others in London opening at 7 am…!, Guess that is to capture workers coming off all night shift. Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. Will be around in Jan…umm village is changing….
