A book of "amusing anecdotes" from around the country .... I think not.

Slow Cooker - exellent present - dont be so ungrateful DM, you need something to cook brisket and other frugal foods in during 2009.

Does any one know how to make ersatz coffee out of acorns?

One Christmas growing up a friend of my parents joined us just before lunch and spent the rest of Christmas with us. I remember thinking it strange as his wife wasn?t with him.

A few years later when I asked my folks about it, I learned that his wife had thrown him out because he had got her a set of pots and pans for Christmas.

Me m8 handed over 3 strange looking pressies... I say strange as one was rather large and funny shaped with rather rude wrapping paper, another was a small square shaped box and the third was well... very flat. Naturally one asked whether any should not be placed by heat, were breakable (I dont call myself Kalamity for no reason ya know) or indeed needed to be handled with more care than usual (no swinging it over me head and shaking violently - the pressie not me!). Two out of the three were slightly fragile.

Christmas day approaches and I open my gifts - ooooh a penguin (the first mentioned strange shape), a cup and a copy of TSP's (his band) latest album... as nice as the individual pressies were I was already told the penguin wasnt originally for me, the cup "would do" and the cd was a case of him not being able to think of anything else.

I think I need a new friend! lol

No no seriously I'm not ungrateful I just didn't need to know the workings and inspiration behind the choices!

Now Peruvian Chorizo sounds more up my street. Sounds great.

I know it sound pathetic to complain about a present. I think it's actually more to d with the person who gave it to you. My sister and I are like two peas in the proverbial. That's what I couldn't understand. But hey, i'm sure there's some point in the annals of our history where I got her the shittiest present ever. Probably when I was a broke student and ended up making something out of cling film. :-$

    • The post office were competent for my purposes when I was presented with a similar list.  But I did suggest the OP check with the actual person who requires certification, and not me or some bloke call Ianr from the internet.
    • OP is wrapped in such hyperbole that it takes a couple of reads to extract the key point, which is exactly what you say it is. Obviously if the tickets were issued before the signs went up then they should be reversed. If OP is really concerned about it then they should also email the parking enforcement team to ask them to cancel those tickets themselves instead of waiting for the drivers to challenge them.
    • They're obviously not competent to witness the documents in the OP's case.  The list of required qualifications looks to me similar to the Land Registry's requirement connected with a TR1. Vladi, from my own experience I'd not rely on email inquiries of potentials.   The response I got an email to the solicitors in Melbourne Grove was from another of their branches and was inconsequential.  From William Bailey, addressed to their published  reception or info mailbox and saying I could drop in at very short notice, I'm afraid I got no response  at all, even after also mentioning that  I'd be looking for assistance with a will in the near future and expected to be asking them.  From an online search i did note quite a few in the Camberwell area.  In the end though I was able to rely on an online verification, arranged by one of the other parties.
    • Hard to get evidence for what has happened, but going forward, get cctv evidence of trespass and any interference, ask you other neighbours to as well. Contact solicitor and report to police and council. get more plants to replace those destroyed
