Recommended Posts

... have got back and realised I warmed up so much I left my cardie there - if anyone's picked up a grey M&S autograph cardigan (or handed it in as lost property) could they let me know?!!

Otherwise a v good night - nice to chat to so many peeps.

Cocktails were fab and the nibbles were good too! Going to bed now as got extractor fan man arriving at 08.30!! x

Dry skin and you don't even drink Chuff, must be the cold weather. Miles, how could i not turn up when i had an italian dude and a friend at my doorstep, couldn't say no to that now.:-S.

It was a good night last night, nice to see local people that i knew at the drinks. The sunken area was reserved for the edf that made mingling easy. The service was great, and Angela provided food for the forumites which was a nice touch.

( Best customer service awards for the Black Cherry ADMIN?).

Great to see so many forumites new and old me and Mrs me were band to the upper levels as there was no room in the inn, well done the Cherry for nibbels and Georgia for araingment, sqids hope you got in to work, 2 pints in your own words Boll**s was a good night.

Was a fun evening and ended up talking to quite a few people. I just hope I remember all those names for next month! :-$

Did get a shock looking at my watch to discover it was nearly 1am at one point. Wow! How time flies when you're having a good time, I guess.

And the nibbles were a lovely surprise. Thank you - will definitely be back in to order food again.

This is textbook stuff. For an evening that is meant to be just a few drinks down the road, I have had that reaction on several occassion

And yes SiriH, they are on the first Friday of every month - so next one is at the Forest Hill tavern I believe - which is in East Dulwich but a bit away from the lane. They did us proud last time we went so come along

There are also several other open events which people on here go along to. I'm partial to the curry club which also meets once a month..

I'm considering moving south, we've got nothing like this north of the river, your little community may be unique in London altogether as the Surbiton one is like a cemetery. Maybe I'll make the trip over for one one day.

    • CPR Dave, attendance records are available on Southwark's website. Maggie Browning has attended 100% of meetings. Jon Hartley has attended 65%.
    • I do hope NOT, wouldn't trust Farage as far as I could throw him, Starmer & co.  He's backed by GB News which focus's predominantly on immigration while the BBC focus predominantly on the Israel - Gazza conflict.
    • Everyone gets the point that Corbynites try to make with the "total number of votes cast" statistic, it's just a specious one.  In 2017, Corbyn's Labour got fewer votes than May's Tories (both the percentage of votes and aggregate number of votes). In 2019, Corbyn's Labour fewer votes than Johnson's Tories (both the percentage of votes and aggregate number of votes); and he managed to drop 2.7 million votes or 6.9% of vote share between the two elections. I repeat, he got trounced by Boris F***ing Johnson and the Tories after the Brexit omnishambles. It is not true that a "fairer" electoral system would have seen Labour beat the Tories: Labour simply got fewer votes than the Tories. Corbyn lost twice. There is no metric by which he won the general election. His failure to win was a disaster for the UK, and let Johnson and Truss and Sunak into office. Corbynites have to let go of this delusion that Corbyn but really won somehow if you squint in a certain way. It is completely irrelevant that Labour under Corbyn got more votes than Labour under Starmer. It is like saying Hull City was more successful in its 2014 FA Cup Final than Chelsea was in its 2018 FA Cup Final, because Hull scored 2 goals when Chelsea only scored 1. But guess what - Chelsea won its game and Hull City lost. Corbyn's fans turned out to vote for him - but an even larger group of people who found him repellant were motivated enough to show up and vote Tory.
    • I guess its the thing these days to demonstrate an attitude, in this instance seemingly of the negative kind, instead of taking pride in your work and have standards then 🤷‍♀️
