I hate MOTD - that Gary Linekar and Alan Hansen are a pair of jokers. Surely it's time to kick those patronising b'stards off our screens!

I think Sky Sports are head and shoulders above ITV, BBC and Setanta. I know Jamie Redknapp can be irritating but their usual Champions League panel of Souness, Gullit and Hoddle is quality.

Lineker and Hansen maybe tools, but the BBC's coverage of ALL sport is far better than anything sky have to offer. Hoddle is probably the most inarticulate pratt I've ever had the misfortune to listen to, this is probably a punishment for him being a twat in a previous incarnation. Irritating is not the word I'd use for Jamie Redknapp, it would be something far, far, stronger. The only advantage for Sky is that they cover footie more than anyone else including Spanish footabll. I'd rather watch most Spanish games than some of the Premiership games on offer like Bolton, or Blackburn et al.

I don't suppose that has anything to do with the fact Hoddle and Redknapp used to play for Spurs is it Atila?

Liverpool 2 v Sunderland 1

Portsmouth 0 v Chelsea 2

West Brom 0 v Arsenal 2

Blackburn 1 v Everton 1

Fulham 2 v Hull 0

Man City 2 v Aston Villa 3

Newcastle 1 v Man Utd 4

Stoke 2 v Bolton 2

Tottenham 2 v Middlesbrough 1

Wigan 2 v West Ham 1

Hoddle was good player but spouts poop evertime he opens his trap, the same as Redknapp. The way Redknapp tried to explain that Nolans sickening challenge on an Everton player whose name escapes me, in the Newcastle V Everton game, wasn't malicious in spite of the fact that he stamped on the guys shin in a two footed challenge with his face contorted in anger, beggars belief. I think he said something like " he's not that kind of player", oh well that's alright then!!! What a load of Ballacks.
No doubting the mans ability, but if I remember rightly the England manager at the time thought he was a "luxury" player. I disagree quality is quality, and thought he should have had more games for England but unfortunately our managers at the time were only interested in the work ethic, which has put our national game back many years and goes some way to explaining why our home grwon players don't have the touch, skill, technique, and vision of the foreign players that grace our game currently, and was evident in the England v Spain game.

Can anyone else spot the error in this statement?? ;)

Pompey are gonna get bumfooked tonight. It ain't gonna be pleasant - just hope Chelsea wear condoms!

Atila, you are right, although lets be honest, most of the current England players don't have the work ethic OR the skills! Oh, and just to go back, I like BBC coverage best, and think Andy Gray is a tool. A funny bloke when not talking football, but just annoys me when on Sky Sports!

Yes jah. I remember tony currie being a great player. Was wasted with games in the home internationals and then dropped for the real games.

Tony Currie was a Sheffield United star in the days when I never missed a home game. Even when we lost you knew watching him had been worth the price of admission alone. He once came to my local pub with half the United team because Geoff Salmons (United midfielder who had gone to my school) was having a party and the Lads all met up there first. It was rather irksome all the women in the pub swooning and drooling at this long blonde-haired, muscular-thighed Norse God who had entered our presence...with his scowling wife in tow who wanted to move back to London...He eventually went to Leeds but has been back at Bramall Lane a while now, no longer blonde and somewhat portly...

What I cant work out is that if a club like the gooners had a world class player who performed briliantly for the first couple of seasons and then drought kicked in for 3 years they would sell the player, thats a given. Maybe Arsen has got Teflon shoulders?

Nice blokes don't win premiership titles, maybe a change is in order.

    • Whilst I agree to some extent,  are they going to have some kind of checkpoint?  I can't see how this could work in practice. Surely Southwark residents go to these places quite frequently as well, particularly Tate Modern?  Will we have to take proof of residency every time we go out? What happens when family are with us who don't live in Southwark? Will other London boroughs start doing the same thing? Will Southwark residents be charged a tourist tax to visit "tourist attractions" in other areas, eg the V&A and the British Museum?
    • A shout out for Mark, owner of Pure Plumbers. 07970 971510 They're well established in the Sevenoaks area, but have recently started doing more work in SE London.  Did some v quick and efficient bathroom and boiler fixes for me; have also seen some of the bathrooms he's built, which have a nice attention to detail. • Totally agree regarding not supporting chains. Gail’s was fine but last time I went in Feb this year, actually walked out Fayetteville looking at menu and waiting 15 minutes to even get glass of water and not busy at all. Staff gone down hill - sooner it goes the better… Always prefer to support non chains - so many lovely places with good food to choose from with pleasant staff who know about customer service and sadly, non English which says a lot for our culture, pubs are also becoming abit of a hit and miss affair but maybe just unlucky. At the end of the day all about the chef. Still abit unclear where new place is located - is it down the road from Goose Green where parade of shops are before Peckham Rye?
    • Surely only where the local businesses offer clear advantages, otherwise you are rewarding what should be failure. I want to be served by a better bakery than Gail's, not a worse but local independent one. Certainly give a local independent some time to get the offer right, but don't buy goods which are worse and or more expensive just because the outlet isn't a chain.
