RD nailed it. I was in the England members club for years and went to Wembley a lot and was always pissed off when Becks etc got stick and the 'stand up' crap came out. Always thought it was about England but apparently not. Left a very bad taste and to a certain extent I can't blame United fans.

Hmmm. Have to agree with the Manc support on this one.

There's a saying in Liverpool "We're not English, we're Scouse", which is down to football but also because a lot of liverpool folk feel let down by how they've been outcast by the rest of the country.

Whether you get it or not, football is like a religion up there and it's club over country every time. Actually feels quite hypocritical cheering on Ferdinand when he's wearing an England shirt and I just can't get in to it.

One thing that you will rarely ever see at Anfield is a St George's cross with "Bootle reds" or whatever, across the middle. However I have often noticed them at Old Trafford or with the united travelling support.

On the other side I also agree with Atila in the sense that whatever Ronaldo did against England it was also to a team mate and I found that all a little peculiar.

If the above makes no sense, it's because i'm a bit drunk and therefore i'm sorry.

PS - red devil, you go from one end of the spectrum to the other there with Miss Ellison. Funny though.

The smell you've discovered must be because your nose is too near your arse.

No you must be standing in a group of ManUre supporters having an "enlightened" conversation about football hence the smell of horse shit.

    • I took it to mean that he was going to present all sides of the argument (for want of a better term) rather than just giving his own opinion. I didn't take it to mean that he was calling "his own views" balanced.
    • I just did this survey. There are a number of problems with it. For example, in at least two questions you have an option "other, please specify" but there is no way to specify what the "other" is. Also, you have several questions where if you have nothing appropriate to answer, you get a statement "this is a required question", or words to that effect, so you have to put in something like "nothing" in order to move on. Can I suggest that this is likely to confuse people so they just give up half way through? Maybe you should test it out on a few people before going "live" with it?
    • I went to Brockwell Lido on a hot day last summer to do some lengths. It was busy.  I kept getting other people's hair, which was floating around the pool, tangled in my hands. It was gross. I'm not sure if that was unusual, or if it's always like that on a hot day.
    • Didn't engage him in conversation but I think he was just 'collecting' for a 'charity' - without ID or anything else. Something to do with rehabilitation. They don't seem to bother with dusters. Which is probably a blessing.
