Afternoon,

I had nothing else to do so I put together a boozy, woozy art crawl in North Lambeth and Southwark.

Warning: swearing, drinking and illegal activities.

(Once again, I blame Half-life for all the above)

Thanks, Jah Lush.

I meant to say, I am planning another in the spring - Brixton, Camberwell, Peckham, Dulwich.

South London Gallery and Dulwich Picture Gallery are shoe-ins, but would welcome suggestions of smaller galleries that people like.

And pubs ;)

By Peckham, I guess you mean Bellenden. If so the Vic Inn, with the Gowlett and the Montpelier on the way down from ED, form a holy trinity. As for galleries, try The Arches on Blenheim Grove (for good art and nice people) and Flat Time House on Bellenden (for something more cerebral) are possibilities.
In Herne Hill there's that poppy-uppy installationy gallery thing on Railton Rd within stumbling distance of the Commercial and the Florence that looks quite interesting. There used to be a bar called Escape opposite the station that did art as well but that has sadly gone.

Another great post.

I am wondering what would have happened if I hadn't resisted the temptation to press the "do not touch this button" button on the right hand side though.... It's like telling even the most well behaved kid not to blow through their straw when given a glass of pop in a restaurant... temptation overwhelming!

Thanks for all the feedback and suggestions.

Didn't know about The Arches - is that different to Peckham Springs (which is on the putative list)?

Nor the Borough Road Gallery - good tip, thanks - wish I'd put it in art crawl #1

    • I know people won’t have any sympathy but the SEND challenge was brought up when taxing parents who have opted for independent school to meet a child’s SEND needs. Funding crisis is getting worse and the VAT on Education pushed children out of independent schools, now their SEND needs are to be met by the state.
    • I completely agree with you - and last night was really terrible where I am. Between midnight and 1am was the worst, where it genuinely felt like a war zone. I had to run out of my house to try and stop a grown man setting them off in open space right by our front doors. In response he went to throw a half lit one at me and then seemed to think better of it. I am so sad at how bad the situation has got here and how selfish people are. Fireworks are bad for the environment and for pets and wildlife, as well as just being unnecessary noise for people too. I have sent an email today to Helen Hayes, which I have done previously on this issue. Would advise anyone to write to your MP to do the same, and to ask them to engage with the debates scheduled for 19 Jan.
    • And they started long before midnight!
