Basically, Georgia, some of us "smell a rat" in this story.

Its probably the same "Rat" that appearred in Poppycock's Supermarket "Tale" or should that be "Tail"?:)

Its certainly the same omni-present Shopping Trolley, that seems to accompany her on all her travels, even on a Double-Decker Bus, furnished with a Bus Conducter....

The aforementioned "Conducter" must be quick as he collects the fares AND drives the Bus...must be a Lightning Conducter>:D<

I had a similar experience with one kid on the way back from surgery -- I jumped on a 345 from Clapham back to King's -- sat on the top deck *bad mistake during school time, down the Cold Harbour Rd* -- anyway, headphones on, happy as larry, seat to myself -- until a young, slightly chubby, slightly geeky-looking lad with glasses sat down next to me. *Phew* I thought, thinking he was a nice little respectable kid on his way home from school -- *doh, wake up and smell the coffee TL* -- I happened to glance for a second at him as he sat down -- "Did I give you permission to look at me???" he sneered... "Eh?" I said, barely hearing him through my headphones.... I was quite amused actually, I think he was trying to do 'street' infront of a couple of girls behind him wearing the same uniform as him, in a desperate attempt to impress! I then shuffled my foot slighty ..."You trying to stamp on my foot?" he sneered! "Nope" Said I..... "Huh, all women are liars!" he retorted! To which I used an oxymoron.... "Yes, we are aren't we!"

Love it :)

Does there have to be a point?

I always think of Calvin & Hobbes in situations like this.

It's a single strip, his long-suffering parents are shown bleary-eyed and rumpled in their night clothes standing in the doorway of Calvin's room.

He is sitting on the bed with a trumpet and a drum shouting "JEEZ I GOT TO HAVE A REASON FOR EVERYTHING"?

Still Poppy could do with a little prsctice.

Unless you own a time machine that would be impossible.

Not that I'm implying anything, naturellement, but, usally, when someone starts a "Wind-Up" thread they disappear afterwards and do not re-appear on that same thread at any point.

By the way has anyone seen Poppy?

Thanks for all messages of support!

I sometimes wonder what the world is coming to when some people seem to accept the behaviour of these kids, no wonder we have so much trouble and storing more up for the future......

I have now thankfully recovered from that experience and do not travel between 3-4 on buses now! especially the 36 and 436...but my ankle has'nt! i'm still hobbling around like a hobo but its on the mend....!

Hey! I believed you Poppsi!

Some thought you were off your trolley but not I:)

By the way have you still got that trolley that you took on the Double-Decker?

(You did well to sneak it past the Conducter!)::o

You seem like a real Trooper(tu)

This is EXACTLY the type of Bulldog Spirit that Won us 2 World Wars and 1 World Cup and I, for one, feel humble at doubting you:'(

Thomas.

Make that 2 World Cups Thomas.........no Doubt one just slipped your mind! I seem to remember the rugby boys had an open topped bus tour when they came back. Made me think that if there were more of these buses then send the kids upstairs and if there is any rude behaviour the conductor can just press the ejector button to send seat and child over the top! Has anyone come up with this idea before?

Obviously you were a very bad boy at school, hence the caning... where as if you were a good boy it would have done you no harm at all (apart maybe from an obsession with women in tight black leather outfits who intimidate you that is)

    • They've left all kinds of things in my garden including gardening gloves and shoes, not to mention scavenged food and packaging. Once they left an unopened vacuum pack of smoked trout, the next day some pita bread. All a bit biblical.
    • From memory foxes only became a regular sight in the 90s, the attached article says they first appeared in the 30s becoming far more common in the 80s.  Apparently, whilst we think that urban foxes live longer than rural due to their 'easy' life few will make it over the age of two.  In towns they are far more crowded than their natural habitat where they are more territorial. I've never seen foxes and cats fighting but once saw two cats squaring up to each other and a watching fox went up and butted its head against one of the cats.  There's a video on youtube of a cat and fox facing off when the cat is eating outside, but it wont let me embed on this post.  Get too close and I'll scratch you. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/oct/15/urban-foxes-are-they-fantastic-or-a-growing-menace My main issue is leaving things out like gardening gloves and they go or are shredded.  One stole a bag of bird food in front of me, took it next door, shredded the bag and then left it.
