Dear All - thank you for showing interest in our new venture The Lordship Pub which as you all know is on the site of the old Patch & Mag! Having lived in East Dulwich a few years ago I am no stranger to the area. In fact the first pub I tried to buy 7 years ago was what used to be know as the CPT, & one of my favourite places to eat in London is The Palmerston. We are having a launch party on Thursday, invite attached, however please RSVP to [email protected] as space is now very limited. We officially open at 5pm on Friday!

Whilst we are new we hope you will allow us time to grow into The Lordship & any feedback will be gratefully received. We are tied to Enterprise (as is one of my other pubs The Easton) so there are restrictions but as members of SIBA & having a guest ale provision we hope to bring you some interesting beers that change regularly. Our menu will be made up of dishes freshly prepared using seasonal British ingredients (not home grown like The Patch I'm afraid)!!!! We look forward to seeing you all soon.

To be honest DF, this statement probably describes you (and possibly even me) better than most of the people in ED these days.

I wish you every luck & success as the Lordship. I have long wished for that site to be a great local pub, but it has been badly run for too long. It really isn't hard to prise cash out of SE22 locals when it comes to food, so just keep it basic, honest and seasonal and make sure there is value for money, a good atmosphere and for gods sake, put the sport on in the front bar. Especially rugby!

Oh, and kids - love em or hate them, if you don't welcome them and make a provision for them, the parents wont come - day or night. Just have a strict 7pm curfew. Its simple.

If anyone suggests hiring any of the previous staff especially the manager, I would suggest you politely pass. The service killed it for me.

This. Needs to be parent/baby/kid friendly during the day to attract custom.

A lot of people will (understandably) moan about kids in pubs... the best solution is to implement a curfew on chilren as TJ says, and also to have an allocated "family" area in the pub.

Having a "family" area is definitely a good idea - The Victoria is one of my favourite pubs for Sunday lunch for precisely that reason - means if you are coming without children you can sit away from the family area and have a conversation with your friends without having to shout... We abandoned the Great Exhibition after lunch one day recently because the families next to us were allowing their children to run about screeching to the point we couldn't hear each other and the poor waitresses were in danger of being sent flying with plates of hot food.

Anyway... back on topic - best of luck to the Lordship Pub, be good to have another decent pub on the lane, will be checking it out soon.
