Yes I have - funny how some conversations just go round and round and round and round and round....

It's the best image I can think of to represent this homoerotic d*ck waving that seems to be the current theme. Perhaps you should all just get together and touch willies and then we can move on.

You must remember that Rosie that many Men don't always like to "totally" conform and more than a few quite like a bit of edgy Banter.

Schadenfreude is fairly common amongst Males, but "touching willies" not so mch so....

Boyz willbe Boyz sometimes:'(

For my part, I'm less offended by language than disappointed and bored that the level of wit has sunk beneath that of Dave's continuity announcers

What Rosie said.

BBW, it might be that people are less inclined to tolerate posts they don't like and more inclined to complain, because they're fed up with the general level of tedious, circular exchanges of insults (or worse still dull, unsubtle, cringeworthy flirting) between the same few posters.

Hello Annaj, been a while. I am coming around to the fact that some people are more sensetive than others but I just feel there's a certain amount of knee jerk complaining when someone is annoyed at a funnier comeback to their put down. Concerning the 'dull, unsubtle, cringeworthy flirting' I too have felt the need to complain but have resisted you're only old once so leave Brum and Michael P to it.
BBW felt the need to complain, That's rich coming from you geezer. I am no prude but even I cringe at some of the comments you have made, although quite comical at times some of what you say goes beyond put-downs and teeters on the brink of a right hook followed up with an uppercut.

What RosieH, Sean and AnnaJ said....

....I don't mind appropriate ranting, raving, swearing and the rest of it but the level of tedium that has been prevalent over the past couple of months is beyond the pail.

Swearing and sex can be funny. But everything in moderation.

AnnaJ and Sean, spot on.

Tony my dear, what I'm reading is not schadenfreude, it's playground insults. I like a bit of wit with my banter. I do like edgy, honest I do - I've got a Bill Hicks dvd and everything - but what's been happening on here lately has been more like hitting the girl you fancy in the playground to get her to notice you. So I was suggesting that you guys might want to get a room to get it out of your systems once and for all: a little

never hurt anyone.

Indeed, giggirl.

It has been a while BBW, I just haven't felt inspired to post much recently.

I get the feeling that you think I'm one of the sensitive souls who has complained, for what it's worth, I'm not. I've never complained to Admin about anything you've posted. I often don't much like your posting style and I don't agree with a lot of what you say, but I'm more than capable of telling you that by responding to your posts if I want to.

I'm sort of with Keef on this....look who starts a particular pub conversation and don't join in if they're not your bag.... still plenty of other stuff going on not hijacked by what many don't like... the older locals seem to be moaning about the good old days and drinking at home
Although this does feel a bit like all the old locals in the pub trying to make these younguns feel like they'd be better off in another establishment.

Hhmm, maybe, but BBW did start this thread asking for opinions on why people complain to Admin, and all anyone has really done is answer by giving their opinions.

Surely that's their choice to make.

To take the pub analogy to it's very limit....

I was never really a pub person, I never felt confident in pubs, they were loud and busy and intimidating. Then one day I stumbled accross a pub I really liked. I started popping in occasionally and very soon started drinking their regularly. It was a relaxed and friendly place were I felt welcome.

I chatted to the other regulars, sometimes about serious things, sometimes about very silly things. Sometimes I agreed with them and sometimes I didn't, but mostly everyone showed respect and everyone was heard. I got to know the other drinkers and a few became true friends.

It was a such a good pub that word spread and it got really busy and I was delighted, because I liked the landlord and was pleased to see him do well.

But then it started to change.

Now it's packed and noisy and full of people shouting and the shouting has started to drown out all the interesting conversation. And I find that the place that once felt comfortable now feels hostile and uncomfortable.

And I know that all the shouting drinkers are having fun and have every right to be there, but I no longer feel like I fit.

So, I drink at home (sometimes with my friends from the pub) and only occasionally pop in for a drink for old times sake.

    • Sorry but I think it's best if people just check things for themselves when they buy things. In three shops/restaurants (from some years back) I just avoid the places concerned, as in all three  cases I was pretty sure it wasn't a genuine mistake, and in one place  it happened more than once and usually late at night.
    • Sorry Sue - me again. This has been on my mind all day, it's a big bug bear of mine. If you don't mind - please can you private message me some of these shops so I can cross reference / add to my AVOID list.  Thanks in advance. Let's make sure this doesn't happen this Christmas, particularly as we head into sales season. Even more problematic in my experience.
    • Pity you didn't quote what you are referring to, Mal. I didn't see the previous post, and my mind is boggling 😮
    • The Cherry Tree was absolutely excellent for a while when a youngish couple ran it and brought in a really good chef. It was them who renamed it The Cherry Tree. They were really turning it around. The chef did fantastic Scotch eggs, and one of the best roasts I've ever had. If memory serves the then owner,  for some reason known only to himself, took a dislike to them and what they were doing and sacked them all. And yes we weren't expecting a top class  meal last Christmas, and we left it too late to book anywhere else, but we weren't expecting it for a hundred pounds EACH to be quite as terrible as it was. Stupid us. Not sure why you are confused by my post, Jazzer? Did I misremember? Now it's got even more confusing because my posts have been merged and your confused emoji is shown at the bottom of the second one instead of the first 🤣
