TillieTrotter
I enjoy a pint in there and the new manager seems to be trying hard. I'm glad I'm chav enough to fit in. daizie
are other words really needed? dont worry, chavs dont even realise they are , so stating the obvious harms no one , Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/5575-the-uplands-a-hidden-gem/page/2/#findComment-180792 Share on other sites
Moos
Daizie, I'm sure (I hope?) you don't mean it that way, but your comment comes across as a bit snobbish. Chav is quite a nasty term - isn't there a better way of saying whatever it was you meant? Cassius
I do have to say that my lodger a few years ago was drinking in the Uplands, and witnessed two women were quarrelling over a man. Each poured their pint into the other woman's handbag! I have to say I have never been tempted to go in there since hearing the tale. daizie
no way moos, im not a snob, hehe, a bit of a chav meself infact! . just commenting on what i found in the pub on three occasions. It is no different from saying most of the people who drink in the bishop during the day are pretentious and up their own backsides, either end of the same spectrum. where do unaffected people drink in Dulwich? daizie
yes, your right Brendan, the EDT has more of a mix of people, not very exciting in there though is it...it always amuses me the way the east dulwich folk talk in such 'earnest' to each other on a friday night, no one seems to be having fun, apart from the small crowd of people round the snooker/pool table.. Brendan
EDT? I was referring to under the tree with a few cans of Diamond White. If however you require a slightly more refined atmosphere there are loads of other pubs. The CPT is good as are the Gowlett, Plough and the Mag. But you know pubs are like marshmallows, white and pink and fluffy but gooey when you cook them. Or is that bunnies? I can never remember.
