As long as the millions of Man United fans can find their way to Old Trafford from Winchester, Guildford, The Isle Of Wight, Mablethorpe.........:))

That's what makes that pub so great, they'll be rubbing shoulders with students, hip young thirty somethings (well, keef) builders, commuters having one before getting home.

Proper community pub, at least it was before it got flock wallpaper.

I think it is blloming brilliant!

I'm in the process of buying a flat on Lordship lane and I keep going on google maps to have a virtual tour around the area. I am so jealous of the people who can find themslves, my colleague appears in two different locations wearing the same clothes. It's also a great too for small businesses because quite often you can't remeber the name of a florist you might have walked past, this way you can just take a virtual walk to find out the name. The blurring of faces and numberplates is automated so I think it's fair enough that a few have been missed - i'd love my face on there anyway. Although, before people start quoting me as an idiot about individuals privacy I do agree that they should have checked all images (billions of them) because of the cases that have come up such as the woman who is recognisable and was filmed moving into a new safe house to escape her violent partner.

I don't live is east dulwich yet so I feel I am allowed to ask without shame what does CPT stand for, I asume it's something tavern and gets mentioned a lot on this forum?

Did you guys read in the Metro a couple of days ago about the Goggle street van filming streets in upstate Newyork. It knocked over and killed a deer and if you look on the street it happened on you can see the dead animal.

http://www.streetviewfun.com/2009/google-streetview-kills-bambi/

Twas claimed in one of the free train-rags yesterday that a woman fleeing domestic violence was located by her abuser with the aid of streetview. No idea if it's true or not, but if it is then to say that google owe a recently beaten woman an apology doesn't quite cover it...

sounds like Metro were playing loose with the facts

How would it work anyway? Would the guy have a rough idea where she lived and did a search? Would he not be as or more likely to do that in real life to greater effect?

Can I just make a point here?

If we have the technology to do something someone is going to do it so surely it is preferable to have this kind of thing out there in the public domain and freely available than the preserve of some corporation or government.

    • Thought others may be interested to help a local community centre help others.    My bank account offers roundup and it’s been growing all year. As well as treating myself or putting it towards a train ticket to see my family I’ve made a donation to the Albrighton. They can use donations at any time but I hope my donation will go towards the Christmas hampers.    Can you support them so they can provide Christmas hampers?   https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/albrightoncommunityfridge?utm_id=1&utm_term=M22JKQb6W   A donation of £50 will pay for a hamper to feed a family over this Christmas period. A donation of £30 will pay for a hamper to feed someone living on their own over the Christmas period.
    • I've never got Christmas pudding. The only times I've managed to make it vaguely acceptable to people is thus: Buy a really tiny one when it's remaindered in Tesco's. They confound carbon dating, so the yellow labelled stuff at 75% off on Boxing Day will keep you going for years. Chop it up and soak it in Stones Ginger Wine and left over Scotch. Mix it in with a decent vanilla ice cream. It's like a festive Rum 'n' Raisin. Or: Stick a couple in a demijohn of Aldi vodka and serve it to guests, accompanied by 'The Party's Over' by Johnny Mathis when people simply won't leave your flat.
    • Not miserable at all! I feel the same and also want to complain to the council but not sure who or where best to aim it at? I have flagged it with our local MP and one Southwark councillor previously but only verbally when discussing other things and didn’t get anywhere other than them agreeing it was very frustrating etc. but would love to do something on paper. I think they’ve been pretty much every night for the last couple of weeks and my cat is hating it! As am I !
    • That is also a Young's pub, like The Cherry Tree. However fantastic the menu looks, you might want to ask exactly who will cook the food on the day, and how. Also, if  there is Christmas pudding on the menu, you might want to ask how that will be cooked, and whether it will look and/or taste anything like the Christmas puddings you have had in the past.
