Phil.
Does anyone know anything about the new Italian restaurant opening near GBK on Lorship Lane? I know very little but it looks like it's going to be a little gem.. Earl Aelfheah
I heard that the owner lives locally (Forest Hill). They've a number of other restaurants in London already, the nearest being the Cut, SE1 (http://ristoranteolivelli.co.uk/). Not been to any of them, but have heard good things. Dog duck
Lordship Lane is turning into some kind of odd restaurant street normally found in some holiday destination? Enough's enough... edcam
Looks pretty much like any relatively affluent London area to me. As long as the places are good then why not? kford
I'd sooner restaurants, than estate agents, or bookies. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/57061-new-italian-restaurant-ollivelli/#findComment-840957 Share on other sites

Earl Aelfheah
I don't think there are that many restaurants on LL. Most of the other necessities are there - butchers, bakers, fish mongers, grocers, DIY etc. But there does seem to be a very small number of clothes shops which is a bit odd. LondonMix
Given how hard it is to get a reservation on a weekend, the number of restaurants simply reflects how much people here and nearby like to eat Lordship Lane has a similar number of eateries as most vibrant high streets. Best of all, in addition to the restaurants, the general area still has multiple supermarkets, two DIY shops, a locksmith, multiple dry cleaners, launderettes, a fabric shop, a plumbing shop, gift and card shops, a few clothes shops, charity shops, multiple flower shops / garden shop, kitchen design place, a few homes good stores, several pubs / bars, a new cinema, two gyms, a pilates studio, a tile shop, a tennis club (near south end of LL), squash courts (near the big Sainsburys), architects, law offices, MOT garage, a car wash, a sash window firm, the joiners on North Cross road, multiple vets, a Gymboree for kids, nurseries, churches and other places of worship, doctors offices and dentists, optometrists, a few jewelers, various beauty salons, barbers, picture framers, nail shops, pharmacies, a fish monger a butcher, multiple wine and craft beer shops, a nice Saturday market, a carpet and flooring specialist, the little gallery, two bike shops, book stores, Delis, bakers / cake shops, pet shop, news agent, a podiatrist, physiotherapist and more I?m sure I?m forgetting? The area is simply incredibly well served with a wealth of businesses in addition to the other amenities within easy access such as Dulwich Park, Peckham Rye Park and Common, Dulwich Woods, Dulwich Picture Gallery, and the Horniman Museum. The area isn?t unbalanced, holiday etc. It?s a vibrant area providing lots of services. Jeremy
Well yeah LL is clearly more upmarket than RL, don't see anyone arguing with that.Rye Lane is OK though... nightlife and entertainment of a younger, more rough-and-ready vibe. A couple of nice cafes. And lots of yams.
