I had a very nasty problem with nuisance calls last year... I know it might not sound that scary until you have experienced it... however, a horrid sinister, fake psycho voice and vile things said can really throw you.

I called the BT Nuisance Call Bureau, they put a trace on my phone and recommended I reported it to the police, they then managed to trace the caller and find out where they were calling from as well as the name of the person on the bill...

The police, who were also amazing, (I thought they might think I was making a fuss about nothing but no... they told me that 'mental abuse' which it comes under, is taken as seriously as physical abuse now and can receive a prison sentence of up to 6mth) caught the guy. It was someone I met once at a friends' house over dinner... he seemed fairly normal but turned out to be a nasty little screwed up nutter! He, of course denied it, but as he lives alone and the calls were made from his address, it was pretty clear who it was! The police visited and gave him a tough time and an official warning, and told him it was now on record that nuisance calls were made from his phone, and that his name, address and number were now on the nuisance calls register.

Result!!!

End of phone calls!!!

The police encouraged me to make a statement and pursue it though official channels, as generally once a person has been caught, they do not continue to abuse other people...

I recommend that you report it...

    • Thought others may be interested to help a local community centre help others.    My bank account offers roundup and it’s been growing all year. As well as treating myself or putting it towards a train ticket to see my family I’ve made a donation to the Albrighton. They can use donations at any time but I hope my donation will go towards the Christmas hampers.    Can you support them so they can provide Christmas hampers?   https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/albrightoncommunityfridge?utm_id=1&utm_term=M22JKQb6W   A donation of £50 will pay for a hamper to feed a family over this Christmas period. A donation of £30 will pay for a hamper to feed someone living on their own over the Christmas period.
    • I've never got Christmas pudding. The only times I've managed to make it vaguely acceptable to people is thus: Buy a really tiny one when it's remaindered in Tesco's. They confound carbon dating, so the yellow labelled stuff at 75% off on Boxing Day will keep you going for years. Chop it up and soak it in Stones Ginger Wine and left over Scotch. Mix it in with a decent vanilla ice cream. It's like a festive Rum 'n' Raisin. Or: Stick a couple in a demijohn of Aldi vodka and serve it to guests, accompanied by 'The Party's Over' by Johnny Mathis when people simply won't leave your flat.
    • Not miserable at all! I feel the same and also want to complain to the council but not sure who or where best to aim it at? I have flagged it with our local MP and one Southwark councillor previously but only verbally when discussing other things and didn’t get anywhere other than them agreeing it was very frustrating etc. but would love to do something on paper. I think they’ve been pretty much every night for the last couple of weeks and my cat is hating it! As am I !
    • That is also a Young's pub, like The Cherry Tree. However fantastic the menu looks, you might want to ask exactly who will cook the food on the day, and how. Also, if  there is Christmas pudding on the menu, you might want to ask how that will be cooked, and whether it will look and/or taste anything like the Christmas puddings you have had in the past.
