Moos, Moos, Moos, the oversized mirrored aviators were last year, even the year before and before that. This year?s style in ironic* glasses are these babies:

*The irony being that most of those wearing them don?t get the irony.

Do you mean to tell me that he couldn't actually see and it was all fake? That's like saying a Vulcan death grip wasn't real.

==Little known geeky star trek fact alert==

There was actually one starfleet phaser that actually worked. It was secretly developed by Gene Roddenberry to stop William Shatner from releaseing any more music.

original ray-ban wayfarers are a must even if the missis thinks i look a plonker in them.

I tell her the alternative is ray-ban aviators just like tom cruise in Top gun ( think the volley ball scene but fat old rugby body with moobs and pot gut) the sunglasses make all the difference.... lol

Jaws has a pair of mirrored aviators and I think they look wickard.. I hope that particular fashion stays around for a while.. Me I have a gorgeous pair of chanels that I get out each year for summer, I dont think I will be buying a different pair, sadly aviators make me look like an idiot..

Boring maybe, but its less hassle to spend a couple of hundred quid on shades with high quality glass, than have to go through the hassle of choosing something new each year, guess I prefer function over style, and value my eyesight more than looking sexy...But each to his/her own.

What I really hate are women switching from spectacles to contact lenses! Fetish, moi?

no no no folks... not on trend at all.... this year's key item is the sunglass (yes they do talk in this stilly way in the trade) but if you want to be spot on for this season's looks, hot off the catwalk, then you need to do your research and you need to know exactly where to get the right info!!!!

so here are the hot tips from your resident ED design forecaster, Charliecharlie

one of the key looks for Spring/Summer/09is out sized grey

file.php?20,file=3801

paris was all super sized in bright colours (not to everyone's tastes!)

file.php?20,file=3802

here are a few of the trade web site to keep up to the minute with news off the catwalks

coolhunting.com, style.com and handbag.com are all you need to keep up with fashion

(if you must!!! but I suggest you don't even try... develop your own style and enjoy being yourself)

Wrong and wrong again Bignumber5.....

not a joke about 'old sunnies' as you call them, see web link below

not arbitrary images, both exactly and precisely related to the topic...

as the thread is about sunglasses for this summer, how can 2 images of sunglasses for summer 2009 not be relevant??????

On sunglasses, as with hairstyles, I am firmly of the belief that you should sport something that makes you look good, not necessarily something that makes you look fashionable. If it does both, bonus.

Raybans look great on some people, on others (especially in red or white - sorry Brendan) they will make you look a right t1t. Ditto aviators.

I favour aviators, but may yet be disabused of the notion that they suit me. Have also just acquired some mighty purty art-deco stylee Temperley ones that, being not particularly of any season, I should be able to wear next year and the one after, too - making them a bargain.

edited as am a f**kwit and can't type today

    • It wasn't an antique and bric-a-bac shop but an antique market with a number of different traders, the cafe supported all the dealers in bringing in custom, and was good enough to generate trade for them. It was Rodney Franklin's and his partners enterprise, he previously had an antique shop in Queenstown Road in Battersea. His late wife ran the cafe (she was a very fine actress, it was a 'resting' job).  It was on the corner of a junction on the left as you head towards Camberwell. And almost opposite, if memory serves at all, an MFI style furniture outlet.
    • i used to go there in the late 80's and '90s (?) the food was served cafeteria style and there was limited choice, but what there was alays tasted amazing!  The garden was an absolute paradise, you could sit in it to lunch in the summer!  i've tried to locate its site but Walworth Road has changed so much since then - does anyone remember the house number?
