giggirl
Oh poo that's no good Andy. You can't miss Frank. I can get you some tickets at face if you want to figure out what night you want to go and get back to me. Have you EVER seen the Pixies or do you just keep being in the wrong place at the wrong time? That's a habit you've got to address? citizenED
Jah is right about the distinction between vocalists and singers..hence the title of the thread. As it is, I think both can send a shiver down your spine. With vocalists I guess it's partially down to whatever heartfelt lyrics they are singing, whereas great singers can melt your heart singing the most sugary platitudes. I don't know if anyone else saw Barry Manilow doing his "masterclass" on The X-Factor a couple of years back. Sure the guy is a legendary showman with a cakeshop coiffure and a face of comical magnetude but you should have seen his face when Leona Lewis sang for him. He did well not to buckle in the knowledge that he'd just met a singer far better than he. SeanMacGabhann
ooh I saw here do that at Maine Rd in 1987 Tillie. Love the Yazoo stuff, less keen on the solo 80s pop classics but her chanson stuff is pretty cool Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7178-most-captivating-vocalistsever/page/6/#findComment-230338 Share on other sites

LuLu Too
Mary Coughlan did once make me hold her pint of Guinness in the toilets of the Wexford Inn, while she took a pee.Such an uncouth woman. And I didn't think much of her voice either. Mick Mac
I bought Mary coughlan a drink once in the mean fiddler after one of her gigs there. But she was trying to give up so it was only a coke.I thought she had a great voice but not everyones taste.
