Tony.London Suburbs
To the sound of "Yellow Submarine" to frighten the opposition:"At Number 1 is Georgie Best, at Number 2 is ..Georgie Best, at Number 3 is Georgie Best, at Number 4 is..Georgie Best." etcetcBestie: Nae contest Wee Man...(tu) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/7846-ronaldo-v-best/#findComment-244632 Share on other sites
Jah Lush
No contest. Bestie was probably the greatest player I've ever seen. Ronaldo and George shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. No comparison. Bestie was a footballing god. If he was playing today he'd be absolutely priceless. SteveT
Best was a majician on a sticky muddy pitch, he alone could keep his feet, zig-zag around players and score, when all the rest were left slithering and sliding, or lying in the mud. red devil
Georgie was my boyhood hero and still is. Every boy at school, including Citeh fans, wanted to be him. I agree with Jah, no comparison. The week he died I attended a match at QPR with some friends. During the minutes applause a spontaneous chant of 'Georgie, Georgie' went up. He had no connection with QPR, but this showed how much he was universally loved and admired by the footballing public... Mick Mac
Were you also there when he - according to Harry Redknapp - "He beat West Ham on his own with a hat trick. He was unplayable". FatherJack
I can't see the bronzed Ronaldo surviving the working conditions of George Best's world.....however George Best would have thrived and been an even better player in the world that Ronaldo exists in.Best is Best. Mick Mac
George Best said "Many young United players have been compared to me over the years, but the Ronaldo comparison is the only one that is a compliment to me."That was George Best being typically charming.
