OK, ignore that, they kicked everyone off at the gardens.

My journey didnt seem so bad - from westminster to elephant & castle to camberwell green where most buses were terminating, instead of standing there like the many other lemons (sorry but really if you see so many people gathered at a bus stop do you really think you're going to get on the next bus that is going to come along?) I chose to walk home, yes I said walk! ::o instead of tackling Demark Hill/Dog Kennel Hill went through to peckham, up the back streets and home in about an hour and a half (taking the slipping and sliding on the main roads into consideration it's none too bad). Noticing a fair number of buses that have come down dog kennel hill all quite empty... where did all the people go?

Bendy bus skidded starting journey from Etherow St and has been blocking Barry Rd both ways since 4 pm.

Big up for the sole Bus driver who has taken it upon himself to direct traffic at junction of Goodrich .

Surface of Barry Rd seems to be mixture of slush and ice.

Watched several vans with spinning wheels.

Can I clarify - I am not taking the number 12. I'm going to take the 176 from Aldwych to ED. Is there anyone who can give me some info on whether this route is running please.

I took the Victoria line down to Brixton, hopped on a 37 (coming every 6 minutes according to counter on stop) to North Dulwich station (which took slightly longer than usual - about 15 minutes) and walked from there up Court Lane to LL. The traffic was crawling through the village and cars on LL/South Circular were moving about 10ft every other minute if they were lucky. Saw 4 buses southbound - 2 terminating at Dulwich Library, 2 apparently going to Victoria/TCR respectively but not moving much. Didn't see any northbound buses on that stretch at all.

    • Great shout. They do need the extra fat when it’s winter, but don’t use fat balls from April as they are dangerous for nestlings as the babies can choke on lumps of the fat. When it gets milder switch to suet pellets as they are harder and don’t melt (the grease is bad for feathers.
    • Rather alarmist. There is unlikely to be snow this week, but even if there is that is natural and wildlife adjust accordingly. There are fewer insects to eat due to what humans have done to the planet over the decades.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decline_in_insect_populations  In particular: Habitat Loss and Fragmentation: Agricultural Chemicals: Climate Change: Pollution: Invasive Species: There is even a case for not feeding birds due to the spread of disease through feeders, greenfinch population was decimated.   https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/jan/24/should-we-stop-feeding-birds-what-happens-if-we-do-and-does-it-spread-disease   I do feed the birds but keeping a watching eye on the evidence.   And I try to grow insect and bird friendly plants including attempts at a meadow.   There could also be an argument for not keeping cats as these may decimate bird populations.   https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/aug/14/cats-kill-birds-wildlife-keep-indoors   You will need squirrel proof feeders and even then you may have the starlings and green squwaky things eating most of the food left out for small birds.
    • Apparently this year due to the weather there are fewer insects for the birds to eat. So please if you don’t usually buy fat balls & seeds to put out (in safe places to avoid the cats ) a plentiful supply . They really need it this year, especially with snow forecast later this week.    Thankyou
