Personally, I'm all for a pub which has a kid-free area - and, no, I'm not talking goats. Yeh, yeh - maybe I'm a freak but I do relish the idea of at least some space to enjoy a decent beer without the background wail of other people's offspring.

Yeh, yeh - I confess to double-freakness cause I find the absence of a big screen showing sport a huge plus.

Just seen these posts. What the people behind the renovation of the Wishing Well are not saying publicly is the changes to the licensing hours that they have applied for. The licence application - http://licensing.southwarksites.com/LicPremisesAppliedDetails.asp?systemkey=831545 - includes the extension of opening hours to 1.30am on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and up to half past midnight during the week. Lordship Lane we are not, and don't want to be, and the problem for Bellenden area residents will be the drunken people on our streets in the wee small hours. We have until 30th March to object - go to Licensing Southwark and look for a download on how to lodge an objection.

As a local resident I'm in two minds about this actually. The Gowlett also has late opening hours - and I don't think the local area has suffered as a result. Coming back after a night out, we often quite fancy a nightcap, yet can't face Lordship Lane. It all depends on the kind of atmosphere the pub creates, surely?

I really don't see the Lordship Lane Friday night mentality transferring to Bellenden Road - there just isn't enough footfall and those out on the lash will always prefer a street where they can bar-hop.

    • As I said, it was my understanding. I worded it very carefully. I didn't/don't know for sure, so clearly not a fact. And hardly an "opinion", which is something completely different. You have no idea what reason anybody might have had for not voting for him (unless you can point to some opinion poll results which actually asked people?)
    • Also, just to add, the threat to kill someone's dog and try to kick it, is an additional extremely unpleasant layer. I have noticed a lot of the burst water balloons lying around in the park too- that is not great for the environment either.
    • I’m basing it on the fact that Jeremy Corbyn had repeatedly and on record said he is against mandatory vaccinations in any situation, and he wouldn’t disclose wether he had the Covid vaccine himself    as I said. Not as bad as his brother but very definitely a bit weird about the whole thing. Just say you had the vaccination Jeremy, say that everyone should and stop being weird in the middle of a global pandemic    it’s the same slippery evasive nonsense about Brexit and him. About Putin poisonings and him.     if you are happy with his evasiveness then you do you.  But there is a reason the country wouldn’t get behind him
