  1. Correct spelling is Allopurinal.
  2. Basically it regulates your uric acid, which is the cause of it. It takes a couple of weeks kick in, so you may need to keep up with the anti inflammatories for a bit. They also say if you stop taking it, it can come straight back, so quite a commitment. I think it's worth it though, gout is an absolute c**t!
  3. Get Alipurinal from doctor, take one a day, and you should never get it again. Other than that, they say cherries are good.
  4. Bugger, I wanted Hewitt, but looks like Roddick is a game away.

And someone else doesn't have a zimmer, because a nearly new zimmer wasn't returned, and reissued.
  6. I saw him in EDT, about '94ish. Wasn't that good actually. On the other end of the scale, I saw him at Wemblet arena in 2003, and that wasn't particularly great either. He peaked with "dress to kill", far and away his best show!
  7. No, Admin is admin, unless admin is on holiday, in which case admin may ask a moderator to be admin for a week. The moderators moderate under their own names, but just don't shout about it. One or two of them have admitted to doing stuff on certain threads, but I can see why they don't want a very obvious public list of their names, as that would leave them very open to abuse.
  8. And all the smaller businesses of the world are there just to help people. Did you know her? I am assuming you did, otherwise how the hell would you know if she was struggling against anything? She might have owned 5 houses! You are the sort of person who actually turns people against what you believe in, even if they are good causes. Kind of like the mentalist animal rights campaigners who want to kill people.

Not the council. x amount of money is given to the primary health service, then that money is paid to the trust based on patient referrals (put very simply). The OT's will probably have taken the view that she could be strip washed, and so didn't require a very expensive bath lift or something like that. May sound unfair, especially if you're involved, but hard decisions have to be made because there is only a limited amount of money out there. No you don't know me. I work with blind people, and have worked within OT teams, so have a pretty good idea of people trying to get what they feel they need / deserve. A lot of the time I agreed with them, but what can you do, budgets are budgets, and we can only do what the criteria lets us, like it or not. I wasn't referring to any other thread actually, my memory isn't that great right now, too many sleepless nights in the last 9 weeks.
  10. Mick, I think quite a few people see it your way. ClareC, Anna, myself, not one of us said it was a good idea to smack kids, just that it happened a lot in the past, and hasn't necessarily done any harm. I hope I never hit my kid, I really do. But again, I'd rather that, than give them a beating out of rage.Fingers crossed, neither will ever happen. Also worth pointing out, that David's quote was regarding corporal punishment, which is a bit different. IMO, schools physically punishing kids, is a very different thing from parents doing it.

Honestly PROSouthwark, I can't work out if you're having a laugh or not. If you are, then fair play, it's a good character, and you got a few of us. However, I suspect you're not, in whcih case, you're really quite annoying, as you seem to refuse to answer any questions, and just keep saying exactly the same thing over and over again, like a brainwashed zombie or something. Frankly, you strike me as the sort of person who would join a religious cult, then join in with a mass suicide. That'd show 'em!

Seriously antijen, you may well know the answer to this, I won't assume you don't. But do you have any idea how much money is spent each year on mobility aids and equipment, by the council? (by the way, a zimmer frame would usually be provided by the NHS trust, not the council) Thing that I have really noticed in this thread, is that the likes of PROSouthwark, and antijen seem to think that the rest of us are completely against them, and all on the same "side". The fact is, the people on this thread are often disagreeing over politics, morals, and everything else, yet for some reason, they seem to have come together in oposition to your views, because you seem to think that you are somehow more enlightened and "in the know" than anyone else. You'd start fights in empty rooms frankly, and would probably have a go at a hard working nurse, or decent police officer* just because they are part of "the system". Wake up, you are part of the same system! *believe it or not, there are lots of good honest police officers, even if there are a few nasty ones bashing crusties.

I don't mind you saying at all. I hate kids though, did I mention that?
  14. Muley, you win, that is proper abuse!

antijen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > but of course most of the posters on here will believe that its only the good people of dulwich who deal with REAL problems Do you really think that? > Pro, you will find on this site a group mentality, lots of them know each other, ( monthly social drink), they justify being rude, refuse to debate, then constantly accuse usually one or two people who have diffrent views, you are not welcome on this site if you talk about anything that remotely shakes there safe little world. You are right about the drinks each month, but to be fair, they are open to everyone, if you chose not to go, that is absolutely up to you, but don't paint it as some exclusive club. As for "refuse to debate", what is that about? Surely debate is exactly what Huguenot, and Marmora Man, (and to some extent me) have been trying to do on this very thread. Disagreeing with you is not refusing to debate. I often have issues with the forum, and some of the users, but reading a post like yours makes me want to defend it tooth and nail. You talk about "their safe little world", is this because you think you're much more edgy or something, and you know what it's really like out there on the bad streets of SE London? Or is it just that, that is what you'd like to believe?
  17. So do footballers, but they're still tw@ts for the most part.
  18. My dad just had to start to get up from his seat, and I'd be legging it to the bathroom (only room in the house with a lock). He'd not actually get as far as all the way out of his seat, but I wouldn't know this as I was sitting on the loo wondering when it would be "safe". I'd then creep past the living room, up to my bedroom. I'm sure they knew exactly what I was doing, but wouldn't show it. This probably happened about 4 or 5 times in total, but I remember it well. Now I'm grown up, I don't think I'm a bad / messed up guy, and I know my parents both love me. That said, a good friend of mine used to get regular smacks from his heavy handed dad, after a few beers, and that is never a good thing! I am basically with ClareC on this, but having said that, I like to think I'll manage to not hit my daughter when she is naughty. However, I'd rather a little controlled smack that teaches a lesson, than her getting so naughty, I lose it and actually HIT* her! * I don't think I've ever hit anyone in anger, so this is unlikely!
  19. As suggested by DaveR. Right, I'm off for a quiet beer in a child free pub :)-D

There was another 7/7 denier who also claims holocaust never happened. So so far, we have a holocaust denier, and Jesus. You're clearly in great company. Then again, I am probably blinded by my needless wealth. After all, I have a spare box room in my rented house.
  21. Oh BBW, you were so naive. I remember the days when, given a bottle of chablis, she was anyone's.
  22. Will be sorry to miss you all, but playing guitar in the afternoon at a community carnival thing in Lewisham, then having a band BBQ in the evening. All of which should be fun, but spending all day drinking in the sunshine is also appealling.
