    Who talks sense?

That's a big "almost" tere Strawbs ;-) I now want to know when Brendan hasn't talked sense!!!
  3. What *bob* said. Well I don't know if it's evidence, but in this thread, I posted; To which Louisa replied; Which I took as a bit of a joke about her own posts. Maybe I am just naive. I had a PM from Louisa once ages ago, and this maybe where the "boy who cries wolf" thing comes in, but at the end of the day it still makes me laugh. I am a bad man.

Don't get me wrong, wasn't suggesting that all protestors are nutters, just that these types of people do like to find a cause to join so that they can do a bit of shouting.
  8. I have noticed that I very often find myself saying "what Jeremy said", to the point that I hope I'm not freaking him out. I have met Jeremy a few times in "the real world", so I am glad I am agreeing with someone who actually is a nice fella with a brain. This is not to say I agree with everything Jeremy says, but often do. Who on here do you most often find yourself agreeing with / puts what you're thinking a lot more eloquently than you have? Of course Louisa is another one I tend to follow like a blind sheep. Edited because there were about 5 typos!
  9. Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > A road in Peckham with a couple of OK shops does not equate to a village. Ha ha ha, absolutely spot on!!! I love the use of the word "village" to describe places. Believe me Bellenden, you don't want it, just look at Blackheath!

That's because the people that lead these things are usually really really nasty idiots. I know it's a different thing, but look at these animal rights protestors who have caused physical harm to people, and even dug up an old lady's remains! That is not the behaviour of someone who really cares about the rights of a living creature, that is the behaviour of a twisted knobhead who wants a flag to march behind whilst spreading their poison. Damned shame, as it takes away all the sympathy that the actual cause deserves.
  11. You're spot on there anna with regards the mixed messages, but I think (and I could be totally wrong here, but hope I am not, as I am trying to see the good) that the "judging and defining people as one class or another based nonsense like their food preferences" is the whole "joke, and it works. Lots may not find it funny, but I'll bet Louisa sits and cracks up laughing at all the responses, and why not. If I am wrong and she is just an insane, bitter twisted hag, then I'd be gutted, because for me, she's the funniest "character" on this forum!
  12. Harsh IMO. I think Louisa's view of class is somewhatmixed up, but she is also one of the most successfull "trolls" on here (and she'll admit to doing some of it to get a rise), and never ever fails to get a rise out of people that should know better. In the past she's overstepped the mark, and Asset for one had good cause to be upset, but that is best left in the past by me. I have said countless times that I think class is an outdated concept. Louisa reminds me of John Prescott (bless him), in that he refuses to let go of a very traditional working / middle / upper class model, and it just DOES NOT fit in to modern society. I, unlike most on here I think, often nod my head a bit when reading Louisa's posts, as if you take the serious stuff out, she makes some fair points, or at least things worthy of discussion. I do think that Louisa would be better off making the serious points she wants to make in a more serious manner, otherwise she just comes across as "boy who cried wolf", but there you go. Same thing has been said recently about Dulwichmum, I chose not to get involved with that conversation, but it is an interesting point, that may be worthy of it's own thread.

    Spot on!
  14. Now see what you've all done, and after Louisa so bravely tried to drag this thing back on topic!

Strawbs don't panic. There will be hightened security all week, and chances are, if someone wanted to do something bad, they'd do it when they were more likely to be able to do it and get away wih it. Hope I'm not tempting fate there.
  16. Sorry admin, hadn't seen your post when I started typing that.
  17. Can we not all just accept that Louisa doesn't much like pizza? I'm kind of with you Louisa, in that i don't think a pub is really a place for sitting down for a full on meal, places like Franklins & Palmerston are not pubs anymore IMO, and that is not having a go at them, but they are something different. However, I think pizzas are a good food to have in the pub. You can share it with a mate, and it soaks up the boze. Sorted.
  18. Can't be bothered reading the whole thread, but basically I am with Louisa's original point. Oh, and Louisa, keep up the good work, as despite himself, I just don't think Sean can help himself but get wound up by you, and it is a constant source of entertainment to me (much as I luv ya Seany).
  19. It's a great city, and the people are genuinely friendly. Only thing that grates a bit is the fact they all hink they're born with some kind of natural cheeky scouse wit, and that they're somehow different from everyone else (they even cook up "a pan of scouse", which as far as I could tell, was exactly the same as a pan of stew anywhere else in the world). But they're a good lot really, and it's a cool place to live.
  20. Or you could just text or phone someone yo actually wanted to have a conversation with and knew well enough to warrant it. Otherwise I think PMs are fine.
  21. I don't care if it's cheap, give me 5 wings for a quid any day. It's all about the coating, that's the only reason anyone has ever been to a KFC, it's that winning blend of herbs and spices. ;-)
