  1. My last post was regarding Ronaldo... Say the thing about Wise but didn't realise it was a done deal. Hope Leeds get someone decent soon, they have done so well coming back from minus 15 points! Punishing a club like that is sick, they're financially fucked so you make life even harder for them, nice :-S
  2. Frankly I just think it said a lot about the state of the game these days.
  3. The Castle is not all that bad, and a big group of people will have no trouble... However, you are right Mike and we should try and pick venues for all, so I hereby state that I shall stay away from any drinks in The Bishop, so it should never be considered ;-)
  4. As it's been mentioned on the getting to know you thread, I thought I'd post a couple of clips from the wonderfilm that is The Princess Bride. Battle of wits Best sword fight ever!!! Basically, these clips show why it appeals to everyone, it has action adventure, comedy, a beautiful Princess, an evil prince, pirates, romance? And Columbo!!!
  5. Mrs Keef and I are definitely up for giving this a go, and my sister may even come. We could always take it in turns if we have one or 2 people too many... I'll probably be glad of a rest! :-S Looking forward to it, and having ran about half a mile as fast as I could in the cold to catch a train one day last week, I decided I definitely needed to get myself fit again, as it took me ages to get my breath back!
  6. Heard Tim Burton saying that he made it so bloody because for him that is less scary than leaving too much to the imagination. Films like the first Saw would prove the point, and the 2nd and 3rd Saws made with much much bigger budgets and more blood were just not up there with it.
  7. Kel if they actually admit to you that they're having trouble hearing, suggest in a nice way that if they call their local social services, they will probably issue equipment that will help with such things, such as telephone amplifiers.
  8. Stop! (In the Name of Love) - The Supremes I'm sure I'm actually repeating myself on this thread.

Kel is spot on, just delete all your photos, and make up a load of rubbish like HOMETOWN - Parts Unknown, and you're sorted!
  10. It's Salford. I like the fact that they can't actually show the crest of Manchester as part of their badge because they are outside city limits. Ha ha! Whenever I used to visit friends in Manchester, you'd see loads of locals wearing sky blue, and the Man U shop was full of asian tourists.
  11. I think The Palmerston and Franklins should both be legally forced to change their frontages so that I don't think they are pubs and go in for a pint, only to feel that I'm getting in the way of the running of the eatery. I remember going to The Uplands with my dad for a couple of lock-ins just before it was all changed, and it was great! That said, it had a bit of a rep for trouble before that.
  12. Pleased with our draw against Barnsley. Chelsea are lucky buggers, hopefully if we meet them in the final we can get the champions league theme tune to play before the match, and we should beat them! >:D< I am not saying this to wind anyone up, but I have to say I see Man U winning against Arsenal at Old Trafford... Can't say as I particularly care either way, but guess I'd just about lean towards Arsenal, if nothing else than their players (if not the manager) seem less cocky than Ronaldo and Rooney! Atila, I think it has been denied that Arsenal are the team enquiring about Woodgate. To be fair, he's stayed fitter this last couple of seasons, and he is a good player. If he hadn't been so unlucky with injuries, I think he would have earned top spot above Terry and Ferdinand in an England shirt.
  13. I think The Castle or The Uplands would be a great laugh. Now I think of it, I'm really leaning towards the Castle... I'd be interested to see if people start coming up with excuses why they can't make it ;-) Anna, beers at yours after? :)-D
  14. When did the plough become the goose and get destroyed? I'd guess late 90's, but can't really remember.
  15. Nice to have a good story of honesty on here!
  16. Agree RE the plough 6 years ago, but as I said it was lovely in the 80's and early 90's. Yes I have been in The Bishop quite a few times, as I believe in giving a place a fair go, but I really really don't like it, and I really don't think it's any improvement on The Foresters. The toilets are exactly the same, they've done nothing. Whilst I'm sure you're right about a lot of the older drinkers moving up to The Wetherspoons, I can promise you, you get a fair few of the younger people still going in there, and these were the people that really gave The Foresters it's reputation! I thought the terrible decoration was what gave the mag a bit of character. Who could forget the "book shelf" wallpaper above the bar!
  17. "The Plough? The Foresters? The Magdala?" The Plough was nicest years ago before it became The Goose and Granite, so it has changed for the better recently, but is not as good as it was originally. For me, The Bishop is barely different from The Forresters, you even get the same people in there. Bit of clever rebranding and bob's your uncle. Mag, fair point, although I did think it had character back in the day, and it was a good venue for the comedy. This is why I love the CPT, 2 pubs in one :)-D
  18. Because I suspect she's teasing. To be fair, the wall did start to look a bit crap in it's later days, as a lot of the good stuff had chipped away, and there was loads of rubbish tagging spoiling it.
  19. Were you a WWF fan as a kid?
  20. I always loved that walk and was sad to see it go. Happened a fair while ago now.
  21. Nero your police comparison isn't really fair being that the police get paid for their job. Anyway, as Shaman says, they have to pay for what they take, so good luck to them getting first choice, they deserve some sort of perk.
  22. Thing is, I always move down the train, but then get off at the stop before London Bridge and get tutted at as I try to get off.
  23. Why is everyone digging this place out? Good luck to you bossman. Frankly, as long as you beat Threshers and Sommerfield on a deal for a crate of beer you'll be fine, whatever beer it is, especially in the summer. All these people who like to tell you what special organic beer they like to drink will soon grab a crate of stella if it's a bargain.
  24. I know I'm late in writing this (where did you go by the way?) but Mrs Keef said the roast she had at The Plough was very good, and it was cheaper than most down the bottom of Lordship Lane.
