  1. December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night) - The Four Seasons
  2. Nice! If we're getting in to shops, Well here's to you Mrs Robinson... - S&G
  3. I don't know if Pechkam is better or worse than where you work. I do know that there is no need to scare monger and make out like the streets of Peckham are like some 80s Bronx gangland, because I can absolutely promise you, Peckham was a lot lot worse years ago when the North Peckham estate was known as "Front Line", and there was regular gang warfare.
  4. In response to ratty Perhaps, but the fact remains that your average kid has nothing to do with all this. I doubt numbers have changed much at all in terms of personnel, but maybe they think a lot less before actually using a knife these days. For the record, I work with a lot of teenagers in pretty shitty areas too, so I'm not just making stuff up as I go along.
  5. Exactly right! Although a problem may seem big, your vast vast vast majority of teens are just normal teens getting on with being moody pains in the arse. The ones that might carry knives are a very small minority. When I was at school there were kids who would carry knives, it just seems to be more news worthy these days.
  6. Uplands Girl - Billy Joel? :-S S/heber/ns - Ricky Martin!
  7. As for moving to Australia, they have plenty of crap going on there too, but I'd still love to live in St Kilda, Melbourne!
  8. This is nothing new in ED at all. Difference may be that kids these days have mobiles and PSPs in their bags, so the swag is more tempting. However, I remember my sister coming home shaken after being mugged by some Waverly girls (scummers), and I had to defend myself several times on the mean streets of ED. The simple fact is that you get horrible bullying little shits wherever you are, and unfortunately dealing with it is part of being a teenager at school.
  9. DC, Although would be tempted to go YES just to annoy the people that don't want it simply because it's not in keeping with their twee ideal of Lordship Lane.
  10. Don't know anything about it really, but do know blokes frm Dulwich who went to London Nautical.
  11. I wanted to be a rock guitarist, now I work for social services. I still continue pretending to be a rock guitarist though.
  12. East Dulwich Angst Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Hurt - A big hit for Johnny Cash original by Nine Inch Nails Tune!!!!!!!! Original being better.
  13. No more tears - Ozzy Osbourne
  14. I too went to Aske's, but if is a different school now. It is fully mixed, and I think the old Girls school is now the lower school, and the boys is upper school and 6th form.
  15. Just thought of the ultimate cover that was a much much much bigger hit. Before being a big hit worldwide, Natalie Imbruglia's Torn was written and released first by a band called Ednaswap, before being covered by some Norwegian woman called Trine Rein.
  16. Handbags & Gladrags. The Stereophonics version was big, everyone says Rod Stewart's version was better (to me they sound much the same), what most people forget is that the first person to record it was Chris Farlowe. Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen... Many different versions, Jeff Buckley's being the most famous. Don't know about bigger hit, but one of my favourite covers was Guns N'Roses' version of the Wings' "Live and let die".
  17. Branstons beans are wicked!!!
  18. Maybe it needs to end in tears. For 11 years managers have failed because they haven't produced the Keegan style of play where you give away 3 goals and hope to score 4. If he does fail (and I'm not actually wishing that on them), maybe the fans will shut the f**k up for a while and accept they need a good manager to organise a good team. Jose wasn't exactly playing the most exciting stuff at Chelsea, but it certainly worked! Wonder how the toon would feel if he was their manager.
  19. I've had loads of letters telling me I was due a visit, and no one has ever come round. I've done the license thing a couple of times in my life whilst living with paranoid types, but can't be arsed these days.
  20. Just charge straight ahead screaming "I halt for no man!" in the voice of the black knight from Monty Python & the Holy Grail.

He's still a nutter though!
  22. Just don't pay it, their stories about detector vans and knocks on your door are basically bo!locks!
  23. Hi, there are some old threads HERE, HERE and HERE. One of the best, but most highly subscribed is Aske's, and their Knights Academy is doing well too. Knights excels in sport, and Aske's in music. The music teacher there is incredible!

Gambling is just a vice > So - no double standards. Massive generalisation, and total nonsense I'm afraid. Every betting shop will have it's regulars just like the pubs. Often these men (more often than not) will sit together in a cafe and sort their bets, they'll then go and put their bets on. They may then go to a pub to watch the races, and will then go back to collect their winnings. I have met several betters in the past who have said to me "who's the mug, me or you. You go and spend ?20 in the pub and never see it again. I let myself spend ?20 on betting because I enjoy it, and have budgeted for it, and I have a chance of seeing my money back". Some people just do it as a hobby, and it is a social thing for them. It really isn't the seedy underbelly of society that everyone makes it out to be.
  25. I'm pretty sure they were kiwis actually.
