Piers, if you believe that site, my sister is unique. However, I have met more than one person with the name warmwater, so I suspect the site isn't perfect.

It's a weird one, are toon fans really so silly as to believe he's the man just because he did well there 11 years ago? The only impresive looking thing he's done since was the progress of Fulham, but that was down to AlFayed's money. That said, sometimes a man just belongs to a certain club, and at least it'll shut the fans up for a while... What the chairman needs to do is say to the fans "you've got the man you wanted, now shut up and give us time to sort it". Those fans will probably be expecting to storm up and get in the champs league as well as winning the FA Cup now.

My God!!! You can imagine Katie Holmes when "signing an autograph" for someone actually writing "please help me, he's mad!!!"

I have coloboma in both eyes, meaning that my eyes are a bit like this... http://www.ffcvi.org/New%20Files/Carlie.jpg However, as they're such a dark brown, it's not that obvious.

An old friend of mine introduced me to her friend Luke Warmwater. Why oh why would you chose Luke if that was your last name?

I watched Crash having heard all the reviews, and expecting something really special. I quite enjoyed it, but didn't think it was special.

Yeah, my current manager is exactly what you just described, and has now decided to leave and go back to doing what I do in another borough... Don't blame him at all, except HE WENT FOR THE JOB THAT I WANTED!!!!!!!!:X You are exactly right though, which surely suggests that heads shouldn't be responsible for all the budgets, so they can just get on with running th school!

Why, the topic is boring... So... Sea cow to get gravy and start doing potato scallops???

Undoubtedly! However, like in many other things suck as health and social services, managers / heads will all too often be hired not because they will be a great leader, and develop services, and care for their staff. No, they will be hired to control budgets and save where they can.

SeanMacGabhann Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Ignoring the fact that they are often rammed as well (and therefore a very different proposition to betting shops) Not sure I totally agree with that point Sean. Firstly, I know a lot of people who regularly use betting shops, they just tend for the most part to be an older generation. Secondly, most betting shops don't have transparent windows, so how do people know who is in there unless they are going in there? Thirdly, I used to work in one, and believe me, you only need a few regulars to keep you going. These people bet big, and often loose big because they often don't know when to quit.

I have only just seen the locked thread, and whilst I understand why that particular thread was locked, it does raise some interesting points for general disscussion. Scruffy Mummy Wrote: > At the end of the day, don't all the schools face > the same budgetary restrictions or cuts?? So if > there is a budget problem facing one school, > surely other schools in the area are? Mrs Keef is a primary teacher, and just had a terrible experience in a school in South Norwood. A big problem with schools, and from what I can gather, especially primary schools, is that unlike any other local authority service, they are very much self managed, which means the budgets are more or less controlled by the head. In this school, the head was obviously mismanaging, and spending a load on some useless resourse, and not leaving anything for staffing. This meant very very little TA support for the teachers 2 mornings a week in a class of 30 with 9 special needs kids), and a general nightmare for all involved. Mrs Keef gave up her job there at Christmas, and very nearly turned her back on teaching all together. However, since then she's done some supply and realised again how much better a well managed school is. Seriously, it is worrying how much control a head has over all aspects of the schools running! It is also very very worrying that in that borough (Croydon), only 25 kids would be statemented each year throughout the entire borough!!!! To me, that must be breaking several laws and legislation! So, whilst each school may be given more or less the same budgets, the way they are spent can vary greatly! Just thought this might be an interesting discussion.

Next you'll be wanting curry sauce. Innit!!!! When I moved to Liverpool I was convinced they were all freaks the first time I went to a chippy with Scousers and Mancs. There I was in threshers week, and they're all ordering bloody gravy on their chips!!! I wanted to run back to London there and then. However, once I was convinced to try it I became a true convert, just as I did when a scouse girl I used to work with convinced me to order a sausage & cheese sandwich from the cafe! (tu) Another popular thing in chippies in the pool that I don't see down here is Potato Scallops... They were yum!

How do you get the red "new" to come up on new threads ...?
Keef replied to Caron's topic in The Lounge
Are there any glitches with the forum in the last couple of days? First it has been really slow and sometimes refused to load at all on my home computer, which is usually nice and quick. Secondly, for 2 days I hadn't seen a "new" next to the general issues section. I went in there intending to start a thread about the lack of interesting stuff happening in ED, and found that there were sh!t loads of new posts/threads (all showing the new next to them). -
LOL! Services to religion maybe?

I love when SOME OF the parents can't see both sides of the arguement and just get really insulting to anyone who's not totally pro kids! As Tillie said, lets let this rest and promise that should another similar thread start up, we shall just direct the quarter to this or one of the many threads, and all go about our day.

Both bones in my wrist - Skateboard. Rib - rugby. Fractured Skull - Pipe falling on head from 3 stories up... Apparently I was very lucky to have gotten off so lightly with that one, so can't complain :-S
